Bryan's Marine in Upper Love has some boats for sale and also works as an agent for other owners trying to sell.

I would not rule out Puerto Rico. There are a lot of large dealers there.

When I was looking for a boat in the size range you are I found that most boat's owners were asking $4,000 - $6,000 more than the same boat was listed for sale on the East coast. Even though the boats were ten years old the seller was often trying to recoup the entire cost of shipping the boat from the USA to the USVI. The boats you find in the USA will also be in better shape since they aren't in the water year round and are not exposed to the UV we get here.

Just keep looking until you find someone that is motivated to sell and is asking what you think is reasonable. Check out the bulletin boards at the Marine Store in Gallows Bay, the marina office in Green Key and the Yacht Club. Also look at the bulletin board at Schooner Bay Market. It took two months of looking until I found what I wanted at a fair price.

any idea what it costs to ship one from the mainland? Is it more or about the same as a car?

Much more expensive than a car. The estimates we got were $3,000 - $4,000. A boat on a trailer with a long tongue, windshield, etc. takes up a lot of cubic feet.

I shipped our 23' twin-jet on a dual-axle trailer last year. It cost $3,500 from Seattle to Port Everglades, FL and another $3,500 from there to STX. I'm afraid that unless you want a much older boat you're probably going to absorb the hit one way or another whether you buy in the U.S. and ship or buy here.
