Hello there!
First of all, I can not even begin to tell you how helpful this website is! Thanks for all of the postings!

My fiance and I will be moving to STX mid August. I will be arriving first, and working at the schools. Chris and my 2 dogs will be joining me shortly there after. We are trying to get as much information about potential rentals as possible prior to getting there. I contacted one realtor who suggested the Ocean Terrace Apartments, as they were reportedly dog friendly...does anyone know anything about them?? Any other suggestions?? My contact with realtors has not been very successful so far.

I have also read about the Island Trader. Does that have rental information for all of the islands or just one? Is there anyway to contact the Island Trader and have the paper sent to me directly if it does have rental info on STX?

Any and all advice is welcomed, appreciated and enjoyed!

Thanks, Michelle

Your best bet is probably to work with your school contacts to find a place to stay. The Island Trader is more STT oriented. Danish Manor (340/773-1377 and 800/524-2069) in C-sted rents weekly. You could start out there. I don't know if they take dogs. The St. Croix Avis (340/773-2300) has many listings for STX. They might send you copies.

I believe I have been assigned to Juanita Gardine. I am a speech pathologist so I'll be providing speech and language therapy to the elementary students. I am contracting with a private company, so I don't have any direct contacts at the schools at this time to assist with relocation info. But this board has been a big help.

Michelle,
We checked into Ocean Terrace when we were ready to move here because it is nice-just redone, mid island locale and takes dogs...but when we tried to get a lease pre-move, the manager gave us the run around and when my husband got on island and went there, the rates had been greatly increased! It does have nice amenities etc but maybe you could contact the realtor that helped us. Her name is Dorothy Gilroy with American Rentals and Sales, you can reach her at 340-773-8470. There is actually an apt available next to ours at Vista Mar Condos. We have a Lab who would like some company, and there is a nice back yard here to play in. Neighbors are good about the dogs as long as they are not big barkers and you clean up after them. The location is good, mid island, about 10 min west of Christiansted and a nice view and a pool! Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more info.

J & T,

We would be VERY interested in your next door apartment. Who can we contact to chat about it? Our dogs are great, and love other dogs (they already have lab friends here!). Not a problem with the barking as they are pretty lazy most of the time. Is the contact for your next door apt Dorothy Gilroy as well? What else can you tell me about the place...furnished? bedrooms? rent? etc... Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to email me at mlr_slp@yahoo.com.

We can't thank you enough for the info!

Michelle and Chris (and Lyle and Murray, the dogs)
