long-term car rental
Looking for a long term rental of a decent size auto or suv...will be living on STT for a while and don't want to ship my expedition to STT. What are the choices?
Go to www.viphonebook.com and call all of the agencies on STT to compare their longterm rates and go with theone that you feel most comfortable with. But, and this is just my opinion, you would be better off buying a used SUV here for, say, $3,000 and then sellit for $2K when you eave. That $1,000 loss (plus $250/year for insurance) will most likely be less than a bill from an agency like Budget, Avis, Thrifty, etc., for a month. If you are going to be here longer, then it will be even more adventageous.
Are there any car dealerships that you recommend buying a car from (used or new)? I saw some place called "automart", but wanted to get a recommendation...thanks!
Joel,
Are you already there? If not, someone suggested to us that we buy another car in Sept. when the rental places sell - just a thought!
I have tried for years to get a longer term rental that seemed fair to me.
The fact is you will pay about $1000 (+-) per month for a short term rental (one to four months).
If you are staying longer you can cut that amount by maybe 30/40 percent.
If you are willing to hassel the "ship your car and sell it" you might save a little.
If you are only staying a month or two the 1k figure is pretty close.
When you do the math, the $1000 per month is really not too bad.

Try Community Motors near the airport. Talk to Holly. They have cars for about $450 per month. The will require you to get local insurance. Holly will reccommend someone that is very reasonable.
I have used them for 2 seasons and have been quite satisfied
