hi everyone

I'm going to hire local movers to move from point A to point B on STX and wondered if anyone could recommend a moving company?

I know who's in the phone book but wanted to hear if anyone had a great experience with any of them...

thanks!
Joan

I've used brandon transfer 3 times and never had any problems. They are not cheap however.

I can highly recommend Lee Flemming of Managed Freight (on Hess road.) He just handled shipment of my boat which apparently arrived today (he sent me pictures to verify there's no damage as I'm out of town.) There may be others on the island as good but there certainly can be none better based on my experience - Lee runs a tight ship the equal or better of anything I've used in the U.S.

I was very satisfied with Fleming Transport. I have used them twice for on island moves.

Hi,
We have used Lee Flemming at Managed Freight for a number of items, big and small, as well as our move from the states. He is absolutely fabulous and I highly recommend him. I don't have experience with the other movers mentioned, but I can tell you from my experience that Lee is top notch. KJ

Yeah, Marty, that's what he kept telling me, anyway...:P

Thanks everyone for the advice! Flemming sounds like the way to go.

Is Lee Flemming @ Managed Freight the same as Flemming Transport?

And do these guys pack all your stuff, as well as move it and un-pack it?

So, yer tellin' me that all they do is carry boxes and stuff out of your apartment, drive to the new place and carry it inside? Nothing else??? Heck, I'd want a mover to do it all! Pack it, load it, ship it, unload it, unpack it! Want me to loan ya a coupla bucks so you don't have to do it all yourself??

Juanita,
Lee Flemming and Flemming Transport are two different companies. All the same family, I think, but Lee went out on his own. Marty--actually, the movers Lee arranged for us in NJ did pack everything up! It was pure heaven and nothing got broken. We had to unpack ourselves, but Lee's guys did move the furniture around for me and put down the rugs. They also left a small trailer for us to put all the packing material in and when we were done, they picked it up and disposed of the boxes, wrapping materials, etc. KJ

So, Joan, looks like you should contact Lee, so they at least pack it for you.....

Thanks, KL....
