Hi

I am not a local but have visited a couple of times. In my opinion and that of quite a few locals, the mojo cafe by the ferry dock is great and reasonable. Indian fusion I think, mahi tacos and pates as well as entrees, only about four outdoor tables. I will be heading down in a few weeks and am looking forward to making it a stop each night! Skinny legs in coral bay is a good stop for simple burgers of sorts in a great atmosphere. The deli grotto is my pick for take out lunches in the mongoose junction place w/ prices similar to decent sandwhiches where I live in Mass. If you must have key lime pie as I must have it, Morgan's Mango. Pricey but good food all around for a special occassion. We didn't venture out more than that, decided to stick with what we liked and could afford knowing we were always going to have a great meal. The mojo really was a favorite of locals though. Great guy runs it and does the cooking. Let me know if you have any other good finds.

No offense but most of the food that mention is not local West Indian food.

mahi tacos, burgers, key lime pie...maybe American or fusion food but certainly not Caribbean.

That's what I love about being down at carnival time. The eats in the Village are outrageously eyelund.

John Cakes with spicy shrimp.

Salt peter fish.

So many good treats and those drinks, like the song says, It's Carneeval.

Be there soon.

Mell, will you join us for dinner if I send a couple of smilies your way. We're really deep down nice folks. Join us for j'ouvert and we can march throught the streets with total abandon.

:):)

Isnt there Miss Lucy's Cafe on the east side of the island? They always have good simple local food.

And Sogo's in Cruz Bay, as well as Hercule's next door to Penn's. Not necessarily a restaurant, but some local delicacies.

Ronnie, how about picnic at Magen's. Some of the best local food I've ever had, wink, wink.

sorry to not be as local as what was looking for in the post. Though all the locals, native and not so native, always pointed us to the mojo for dinner because it was good and inexpensive- my two cents

oh and my husband loved the barbecue cart across from the open bar and next to the visitors booth by the little park near the dock

Bardsley, I love Shela's Pot in the park in Cruz Bay. As you come off the ferry dock, she's to your left. She has great local food, so definitely give her a try.

Hey,

Don't forget Vie's Snack Shack out on the East End!!! Wonderful food!!!

Promo,

Thanks for the invite -- sounds like a great time. Unfortunately, with my husband's busy work schedule, we are unable to plan exactly were we (he) will be this far in advance. Check with me toward the end of June and if we are on island, it'll be a date!

🙂 🙂 🙂
