I have an upcoming job interview...considering relocating to St. Croix. I have read a lot of the postings and am interested in finding out more about local customs, i.e. what to say, what not to say, etc. I read about the importance of saying "good morning, afternoon, etc". and the response to the question "how are you?" Any other expecially important things to know so I don'toffend anyone unintentionally. I want to make sure that I am informed before the interview.

Thanks for any info.

Lora,

The Good Morning, Good Afternoon is good for everyone... However in a job interivew I would not answer my potention employer "Not as good as you" when he/she asked How am I? I would answer very well thank you, and perhaps ask the same question back as you would in the mainland when asked how you were. An employer might take you saying Not as good as you - as you trying to be funny????

I am not sure what type of job you are interviewing for?? However in most cases the interview format and "customs" will be very much just like in the mainland - the business practices are the same, the same rules for when to shake hands, say thank you for the interview, not to stand too close to so that you are in the other persons space.... all of that is just like in the mainland.

The customs about "how are you" are more the older folks that would say it..... and they would not be offended in slightest if you said very well and how are you.... as this is what most people say today.

The rules of communication in business environments... are very American.
