Local Ch 8 ABC Now on Dish
Over the weekend I discovered our local ABC is now on Dish Network channels 008 and 9042.
I'd rather have my Distant Networks package back.
Now people can watch the Ch 8 LOCAL news at 7pm.
I suppose some might want to but I've never cared to watch the local news.
Not ours
Canuck,
Getting Ch 8 is HUGE with many, many, of the local folk!!!! Even more so with the older customer.... They're used to seeing what happened on STX via the 7pm news. It's one of the big hurdles for them to go Dish. "No Ch 8? Hmmm".... Heard it for years. You may not care but thousands do. All American Direct simply chose to get out of the distant network market. Sadly!
Dixie, You have to use a VI address.
Chalk another one up for Dish!

EVERY time I tuned in today it was infomercials.
I hope they all run out and but that antenna that channel 8 has been advertising all day.
It won't receive ANY over the air channels on this island. None.
Channel 8 always has been mostly infomercials.. Been getting away with it for years! It's completely about the 7pm news:@)
I was missing the news show with the creepy Haloween lighting and camera that must have been dropped...a lot.
I miss Channel 2 local STT news. Channel 8 has always been challenging to watch with it's many glitches that are so completely amateur in production. Watched last night and nothing's changed.
I took the bait and tuned into Channel 8 last night.
What a joke.
The incredibly poor quality of the signal on both the local news and the ABC network news made my flat screen look like my parents old Philco TV.
Why anyone would want to watch that garbage is beyond me.

Yup, Me too! When I tuned back to a "real" station I felt like it was 3D Imax. Horrible station!
I must be the last person with through the air tv, and it's because I couldn't get an answer from dish regarding affiliates. I like the NY stations and local news.
I check online to compare content. Mostly prefer PBS and Netflix.

You're not the only one still attempting to watch local TV on-air. I'm using a boosted directional antenna and can get some stations depending on where it is pointing. I'm on STX and would like to compare notes on what over the air channels people are getting and where their antenna's are pointing. Unfortunately I can't seem to lock in a Fox broadcast, which was a bugger during football season.
Boosted directional antenna. Gotta Google those words. 🙂
I'm on STT, and we only get 3 channels in English - NBC, CBS, and PBS.

You can find all the information on their website. If all you watch is NBC, CBS and PBS though, you're probably better off with what you have as DISH isn't inexpensive.
