Hello Everyone,

I am planning on moving to St. John in about 2 years, but I just wanted to get my preperations started a little early, as I am a huge planner! Anyway, I will graduate college and plan on moving down there, since I will be a full-time writer by the time I am out of school. Any suggestions for working and living on St. John? I know that I will have to keep a job or two to keep my income up while I build my reputation as a writer! I also would love to start a little business on St. John, any suggestions would be great and welcomed regarding my situation!

Thank you all,
Blessed Be',
Cerridwen

I'm an STJ vacationer only but cruise this site periodically for vicarious thrills. There are many, many messages on this side about finding work in the VIs as well as finding places to live. I'm assuming that you don't have relatives to live with there already. You must read these threads/messages and plan a pre move visit before you continue plans to just move to STJ permanently. We just got back from our 4th vacation and talked to several US mainlanders, post college people who all told identical stories of working two jobs, 7 days a week, and who decided that cutting it on a full time permanent basis was just too damn difficult and they planned to move back to the mainland shortly (they were all there at least a year when we met them). Moving to STJ SEEMS to work best for those with some cash to count on for several months at least. I am a part time writer and know that the pay for freelancers is aweful. Low pay won't get you anything on STJ, its very expensive. So read all the threads, read them carefully without your head in the clouds (no offense but I was you once for quite awhile before reality came knocking at my door), then plan a long pre move visit before you cut your ties. Good luck and start reading!

I been at it for three years, and I'll be buying the ticket today. Waiting for the deposit to hit the account. It took that long to research the move, Without the "big three" it's STEEP. if yer a trust fund baby, bring it on down, if not, u gotta have the big three. i got two, and enough money to hold me for the third. Met WONDERFUL, INSIGHTFUL, DEEP,SMART,HELPFUL people here and can't wait to shake their hand! I'll let you know on feb 5 or so if it was worth it...
