Lindquist Beach
Hi All!
We're coming down for our annual month long visit-the-son trip (can't wait!) and usually at some point we go to Lindquist Beach - between Sapphire and Sugar Bay. We drive down the dirt road and park. I know it's privately owned. There's a chain link fence around it (that comes and goes) and a no trespassing sign, but the gate is open and there are usually other people enjoying it.
What's the story? Is it legal to go there?
Thanks
Lauren
Yes it is legal. They were forced in a court of law to open the gate and leave it open because all of our beaches are public and they are required to provide access to the beach.
While it is legal to go there - it was suggested to me that I NOT travel there on my own, especially during the week. On weekends you have more families and it appears safer. During the day is good, night would NOT be the time to visit.
Thanks for the info............. What's the danger? Mugging?
I wouldnt go there at night. We go for the afternoon for a quiet swim and snorkel and take no valuables. There are usually couples there, some with kids, a few tourists from Wyndham, a fisherman or 2. It's remote and beautiful, though it's sad to see the amount of trash . Its also sad to think such a beautiful "unspoiled" place has it's dark side.
Lauren
I have heard rumors about crime down there, but I've never heard any confirmed stories. Although just in case I get out of there by dark, whats the point of being on a beach in the dark anyway. The snorkeling is not great there< i'd suggest others. Hull bay is and underrated and quiet place.
Well I am hopefully getting married on Lindquist and the trash is a problem so I think I am going to spend 2 days cleaning up the place before the wedding. Should be fun!
Congrats on your wedding, and kudos to you for picking up trash. Check out the roaming chicken too, nice touch! I'll check out Hull Bay for snorkeling.
Thanks,
Lauren
I don't remember the trash as a "problem" AND I would highly recommend more scenic beaches for a wedding. And if you want secluded as in no people, a little beach just two properties over from the house I live in, on Nazareth Bay, might be an interesting choice - how many guests coming to the wedding?
Platform/Little Magens is a great place to get married. Here's a pic: http://www.vinow.com/general_usvi/wallpaper/
We have about 40 guests and some older people so a hike down the to the beach would be out. I will check out Nazareth since I've never been.
Thanks
40 people on Nazareth might work since you'd have the whole beach to yourselves and its an easy walk in from the road where you'd park. It just might be considered trespassing since that's what the sign on the gate says....a duck under kind of gate or walk around, not barbed wire.
IP: Are you talking about Scott Beach by the old For the Birds? Out on the way to Compass Point? I would not recommend that for a wedding.
Didn't know the name of the beach, nor the old "for the birds".....yes that beach on the way to Compass Point. Why not visit it for a wedding?
