Life as a islander
Hello USVI ,
Hey there my people my name is Orly and I ll soon be moving to the virgin island. I've done my research and choose STT for my base island once I get there. Let me tell you where I m from born in Miami , Florida lived here all my life until I took a short trip to the military in 2006. Now the reason I want to move to STT is because my family is from Cuba and I'm from the united states so I would like to live the island life with the rules or regulation that fall under the united states. I've been doing my research and been reading a lot of forums and watching videos and already think that the seems like a great place to live. Now I know that living any where you have to network and meet people to get to learn your surrounding and environment. I just wanted to ask if anyone would be willing to give any hints or tips about where I could find information about finding a place to stay like a number or something and what area is suitable to live and work. My email ie orlandoalva25@yahoo.com and I ll be leaving Miami in about a week or so if there is anything that I could know or do that you can send me via email that would make this transition better for me it would help a lot.
I look forward on meeting you.
Smiles
Orly

All of the information you need is probably already on thus forum. Type in key words in the search option. welcome aboard and good luck
Thank you. I see that this board is amazing. Everything I need is right here.
Try www.vrbo.com or www.flipkey.com for short term vacation rentals.
Due to it being the height of "off season" you might be able to negotiate a month's rental as compared to a weekly rate for a month.
Be aware tho that most places are at rock bottom prices this time of year and the owners are paying for electricity, water. internet, telephone, cable/dish TV, water, 10% Gov. Room Tax plus Gross Reciept taxes as well as cleaning and other related services.
It all adds up so there may not be much room for an owner to negotiate. Good Luck.
To clarify, the 10% room tax is for short-term rentals only.
