Pickled Greek is definitely a favorite. They have this wonderful appetizer--chickpea fries, a must try. I've tried the various pita sandwiches and enjoy them very much. Their regular chef is back and we have not been disappointed. We've probably eaten there 7 or 8 times since it opened.

Had a special occassion last week so we went upscale and did Bacchus. Pork was cooked PERFECTLY, best pork I've ever had in my life anywhere. Overall a great meal with family that was on island.

On Friday we went to the Cultured Pelican which seems a bit more spruced up since last season. Last season I had a few meals that disappointed, but on on Friday everything was perfect.

I am constantly amazed at the quality of the food and creativity of our chef's here in St. Croix. I have lived in DC, spent a lot of time in world class cities, and still frequently have meals more inspired and better tasting on island than when abroad. I know others who feel the same and were pleasantly surprised by some of the brilliant cooking we get on island.

Since my wife doesn't really cook and I only know my way around a BBQ grill we are always doing our best to keep our local restaraunt's in business!

Tried going to Tutu Bene last Tuesday in the monsoon we were having....walked across the parking lot in ankle deep water and they were closed....until Wednesday for renovations. Tried Case Place in that Gallows Bay flood....closed. So went to Golden Wok. High and dry. Food was good as well.

Went Saturday to Off the Wall and what a crowd. I love going in and seeing so many people I know. Everyone I spoke with was having withdrawls since they were closed.

Went to Cheeseburgers for chili. It was great! We each had a bowl, and then we split a second bowl. Service was really good too. Wine choice wasn't so good. Wishing we had brought another bowl of chili home for a late night snack.

Sad to notice that nobody mentions Salud Bistro. We closed down for a week and a half so I could visit family stateside.

We're launching a new winter menu tonight (yes Juanita, the confit is back). . . .

I think we're at the same level as Bacchus, Zebos, and Tuto..but I'm kinda biased.

Come ask for me

We discovered Lalita/Kalima in C'sted last year. Just had smoothies or light salads. It's a nice quiet setting, very open. Nice fresh fruit smoothies. I've already forgotten his name, but the owner/manager is a pleasant Brit, and we just let him decide on a smoothie flavour (sp in honor of the Brit) based on whatever is fresh that day.

Salud is in Princesse Plaze just across from FoodTown. One of my very favorite places; wonderful food, wine and service.

My wife's favorite. We are at your place five to six times a year. Great food and ambiance. Service is also very good.

That's more like it! I hate to say this...but, we took the soup off of the menu *gasp* I know.

We just put out our new menu, so there's plenty of new things to try.

If you miss the soup real bad, I could make some to order when you come in..just ask

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Thanks for softening the blow of that bad news by offering to make it. I guess it will force us to try other things on the menu.

I just checked out your new menu ( http://www.saludbistro.com/menus.html ) - looks really good.

Noah,

You WHAT!!??!!

I can't count the number of times my husband has said, "Let's go get a bowl of soup.", and we wind up staying, having other food and always plenty of wine!!!

I'm going over it in my head, trying to figure out the marketing concept. I assume there is one. I don't get it.

Did you keep the French Onion?

Uh oh. French onion is gone. As far as marketing concept, I was thinking that we need to keep things moving by switching things up. We do however have a butternut squash soup, and a spicy lentil and chickpea soup that we serve with homemade gyro meat.

Like I said, I'd be willing to make the soup if you ask for it and give me a few minutes to put it together.

What's wrong with change? *-)
