The restaurants on STX are really suffering because of the slow season and economic downturn. I think now is the time to spend some cash. If you can afford it, go out to your favorite restaurant, have dinner/lunch, visit with your neighbors, tell the owner/operator how much you appreciate them. Help them get through this rough patch.

Is Off the Wall open? We tried to go there last weekend, and they were closed. Tried to call, no answer. So, we drove all the way out to the East End to try the pizza. Nice looking place, etc., There weren't but a couple of customers, and we didn't stay because the music was not to our liking, and it was way too loud. Had to be for the pleasure of the employees, not the customers. The young employees don't want to hear it, but you have got to turn the music down to a level where people can carry on a conversation comfortably. Particularly if the music is something that appeals to a limited audience, like rap, hip hop (if that's what it's called) or something like that. I've taken my money and gone somewhere else many times while the restaurant sits empty, with music loving bartenders.

Pick your three favorite restaurants and patronize them regularly. Times are tough and only the strong are going to survive so help your favorites be a survivor. Not everyone is going to make it.

Sidebar: Why do bartenders insist on filling a glass to the brim with ICE? When I request just a little ICE I still get a lot. I don't mind paying $6.00 bucks for a drink but six bucks for ICE and little beverage is ridiculous.

Excellent list Cory! If you like Quality's Cubano make sure you go to Victor Menchos - so good!

East End Pizza is so good! I also have to add to the list Salud (make sure you have the portobello soup) and Ana's in Gallow's Bay (I think they're closed for the next two weeks but when they reopen go there - love their muffins).

Juanita,
The next time you come out to East End Pizza (Im hoping you do) if you have a problem with the music or the music level or anything for that matter please come let me know. I don't know if I was there or not that night, I'm assuming I wasn't. I know the cooks sometimes have a habit of getting carried away with what they like to hear. Especially when I am not there, but this is the type of feedback I need....thank you...Melissa

Actually Cheesburgers has the best chilli in my book.

Love east end pizza! Really good.

I don't think Dashi deserves three $$$, just depends on how hungry you are. Some need one roll some need 4. It doesnt seem anymore expensive to me then an average stateside sushi place, which is nice for the pocket book. Cant WAIT until they open Oct 21!!!

If you like local food try Harveys on company, its the best and then villa morales (west end).

YEP Harvey's is really good!, the best chicken IMO is La Reine Chicken shack...can't beat the 1/2 chicken and johnny cake for $5. Juni's also has good local food.

Cohiba is for all practical purposes defunct. They are open to sell off their remaining inventory of soft drinks and booze. No food.
