Went yesterday, we both tried the chicken and the fish.
We were very disappointed. The fish was so greasy. Yes, I know it is fried but I think the oil was not hot enough so it just absorbed the grease. Same with the chicken, really greasy and kind of rubbery. We couldn't eat it.
The staff was very friendly.
Will give it another chance in a month or so. They need to work some things out.

Is everything there fried, or are there non-fried options?

@margarita girl:

We had all four fryers crash last night and didn't discover it until this morning when we were powering up. Our employees who've worked with us for less than a week now did not identify the drop in temperature which affected product quality. We fixed it this morning. Many apologies. Please send me a PM for a refund and a complimentary dinner of your choice.

Hi Leo,
Thanks for the response.
I figured you were having problems with the fryers. No refund necessary as we know it takes time to work the kinks out. Thanks for the offer.
We will be back to try your place again.

Hushpuppies were awesome, the whole family thought so. Chicken was good, honey bbq dipping sauce made it better. Fries were good waffle fries. For the price the value was great and the staff was very nice. Speed on Sunday was an issue but I get the sense they will get the kinks worked out and will be back when I want some fried food.

Do they sell burgers? I'm suspicious of anything breaded or with a coating on it.

Went back again....food was great, price was great, staff was great. My only real complaint was we ate there and there were ALOT of flies. It was so bad it was like bite, chew, swat.....bite, chew, swat.

My concern with flies is that if there are that many in the dining area what does the back room look like where all the food is kept?

Everything was great but deduct one star for flies.

You can't run a restaurant/cafe in the VI and not get hit with a plague of flies from time to time, it's not their fault. I ran a restaurant for a while that was owned by a sanitation nazi while I was job hunting, since we prepped your food right in front of you and you could see every part of the cafe including our kitchen and sinks, it had to be. No matter how much we bleached, mopped, and wiped, we'd get hit with those damn flies every now and then and there was nothing we could do about it. We'd hang a ton of those fly traps around after we closed and take them down in the morning and after a few days they'd be gone.

Well I dont have any flies in my kitchen. I guess if I want Leos and dont want to swat flies while eating I will just have to take it out.

After looking forward to going to Leo's since first reading about it here, today I went for lunch for the first time. As others have commented, the staff was very nice. At this point in time I would Leo's one out of three stars - but I know the problems I encountered can be fixed. I ordered the chicken tenders and waffle fries. Both dishes were tasty, thus the one star.

The problem I had was that the fries had been sitting around for some time and became limp and were luke warm. The chicken can be described in two ways. Half my order was hot and crispy, the other half also seemed as if it had been sitting around for some time. It too was lukewarm and tough. Not good. The chicken should be served right out of the cooker so that it is all the same temperature and doneness. My order seemed like it was put together from an older batch and a new batch of chicken.

It could be so good, I hope they work on consistency and cooking techniques.

I've been twice. The fish and bush puppies were fantastic. The sauces are amazing. They have to improve on some things but I'll be back

@STXer1:

Thanks for honest feedback. We're on a soft opening attempting to resolve any and all issues, before firing up. Please, please accept a free meal and a refund. We identified a problem with our tenders and fries at or around 3p today and its been resolved.

Hi Leo........
Thank you for your reply and offers for refund and complimentary meal. I know that things happen in a restaurant environment. I'm not looking for a free meal or refund! I just want you all to succeed here so try and fix the problems I had today and I'll be back. For your information, I came in around 12:30 for lunch. See you next time. By the way, is Leo part of the staff here or is that another person taking orders??
