after thought...
the crusians that were hired to cook and finish up the orders were always sooo nice every time I was there and smiled
asked if I needed ranch, blue cheese, this and that
sorry fryers are down, can I get u a soda.. etc..
been here many many years and I know that female cashier was not from here
Sorry about that experience STX2020. Its clear that we've had and continue to have personnel issues. A 20 minute job interview can't reveal what time does, problem is, we lose people like yourself during the process. We try to run a lean crew to redirect that money to WAPA and that leaves gaps. At any rate, I can attest to the fact personnel issues have been a challenge for us early on and continue to this day, however, the biggest challenge is logistics. If we were on the mainland, you'd see a Sysco truck pull up restocking us daily, they'd be a one stop shop. Its taking us a while to get a one size fits all supplier but we believe that we'll be able to do that in short order. We need to.
Its taken us a few months to learn the business in St. Croix and we're investing heavy in the business and I'm willing to do what it takes to earn you back as a customer. The fryers were down a few times in the first couple weeks, but we located a frymaster technician that flies over from st. thomas whenever we have an issue.
On your after thought, based on our experience, we got what we paid for, so we're increasing the starting salary to recruit performers, crucians or not, we just need talent and we need it asap.
We lost you and can't afford to in this climate, so I'd politely ask that you let me earn your positive feedback on me.
hubby ate there today and said is was really good and everyone greeted him when he walked in. wait time was good too.
I don't know if Leo's delivers, but this thread sure does. haha
Is there any vegan food on the menu? Now I want to try it.
This thread isn't nearly as good as the PB Ice Cream hold out, made a man cry thread. That was hysterical.
Had lunch there on Thursday. Service was prompt and everyone was friendly. It has been on and off in the past, so I'm hoping the quality and consistency of the service is on an upswing..
At least, Leo's is doing their best to correct thier deficiencies and upgrade customer service.
The owner is right when he says they cannot afford to lose customers in this climate.
Unfortunately, he may have already lost some customers due to staff inattention and inconsistancies.
I know when I do not get good food or service, that place drops completely off my radar.
I do wish them good luck and hope they can win back their local clientel and generate good "word of mouth" advertising as that is what keeps many businesses afloat, especially during the off season summer doldrums.
Hearing people try and lay everything on WAPA drives me nuts. WAPA was as expensive as when the business was opened and a cost that should have been factored in the beginning and every single other business pays the same piper.
we went there yesterday, got fish and chicken . the fish was great the chicken was so moist. really very good. and service was great.
if i get bad service or food, i give them three tries and then i am done. certainly not after the first bad experience

Holy cow! An honnest and forthright repy. No spin. No turning the tables. I like your style. I wish you luck. If I lived on STX (even though I don't eat fried chicken) I'd stop in just to support your endevor.
I gave Leo's another try Thursday evening. I was impressed at the difference from my last visit. Every employee greeted me with "Welcome to Leo's". The food was very good. Had the fish, chicken tenders and hush puppies. All were cooked perfect. If this continues then I will continue to eat there.
Good job Leo!

Same here for Lunch on Friday....delicious!
Great to hear! I will try them again soon...
Seriously impressed with the attempt to turn this around. Other restaurants should take note.
Plan for restaurateurs planning to open an establishment in the USVI:
1. Read this thread diligently from Post #1.
2. Sign up as a contributor to this forum.
3. Follow the plan as outlined in this thread.
Many a successful business has been started off on the premise that even bad publicity is better than no publicity and yours just might be the one which beats the odds and finds the fail-safe way to keep 'em coming!
Tongue in cheek before the protests commence! 😀

(tu) :@)
We had lunch there today. Chicken for me - fish for hubby. Awesome! Sauces were great! Service was great! Food was hot and wonderful! I was just a bit confused by the "specials". On the outside, it shows $4.99 chicken deal, but the menu board inside didn't show that. It was still very cheap...and I actually had to take home some of the food.
Definitely will be back!
I had some serious fried chicken fingers at Deep End the other day...they were breaded & fried in panko...yum!!!!!
Stopped by Leo's today. Greeted with a smile, ordered chicken tenders and fish. Both very good and piping hot.(tu)
Good to see them get it together!
I stopped by Leo's today but went to the auto parts store instead.
The fellas out front greeted me with a smile and I felt welcome!
The issue I have had with the wings at Leo's is that they are always blood-ridden, bruised wings. The first two time I had them, I figured they had run out, and needed to buy locally, and were stuck with what the island had to offer. However, after the third time, it seems that the quality of wings used is that of lower quality.
Leo's, is this the norm or did I just strike out three times?
Should NOT be the norm. We teeter between Tyson and Simmons depending on the existing market prices. Luckily we get feedback so that we can troubleshoot and fix problems. The problem here isn't the wing (because the birds are essentially the same bird, raised with the same standards, feed), its with our backend processes (Instead of using a FIFO system, it appears that we are using a LIFO system or something in between, the chiller temp is also possibly too cold creating freezer burns, the positioning on the wing pans may take too much cold air, etc, etc). We just adjusted this and more. The problems should be fixed, but if they aren't then we have to continue to troubleshoot.
This forum is a great tool for delivering the customer experience we want to offer each and every one of our customers and for the feedback we are extremely grateful to you guys. In terms of the inferior products you've received, I am estimating that you got a total of 60 wings, so come back and they'll be on us (we should have buffalo, teriyaki back up in a few hours as well as the other 7).
Stopped by today and was greeted by a rousing 'Welcome to Leo's' from not one employee but three!. Nice touch!
Had the tenders and waffle fries and they were really good and hot. One thing for sure is that I did not leave hungry.
Keep up the great customer service. Sometihng that is lacking on this island.
Congrats to Leo's for having an owner listening and doing their best to re-establish their reputation.
This type of feedback is very important to owners and customers as we approach the summer and know that we customers don't wish to waste our money or time, have owners that appreciate, learn from feedback and realize why their business is not flourishing..
I live it STT but appreciate the online comments and come-backs which will only improve things for everyone.
Thanks Alana, but IMHO we are far from high 5'in each other. Its a tough business and one thing this board has taught us, is to never, ever, take anything for granted. If we make a mistake (which we do, too often), let us know, and we'll fix it on the spot. We think that the longevity is in the customer's experience and we're working on it, daily. So let us know, we'll take our licks and fix it.
We know that the wait times are long and the menu is limited and we're working on it.
Stopped in yesterday for dinner. The place was clean and staff was nice as always. They were out of a lot of sauces...the only sauces they had were mostly spicy types which I do not like. How is it they can't get bbq sauce in a pinch? My only other gripe was there was four of us and we ordered wings and fries to eat in. When the food was done we got two seperate trays with wings and one with fries so I asked for some plates but they said they didn't have any. I ended up asking for a to go tray which I tore in half to make two trays to eat on. I just thought that was not very welcoming. Price was great as always. I will go back but may bring my own bbq sauce just in case.......
