The other night I noticed that on Northside Road between the Buccaneer Hotel & East End Gas Station (where the road runs right by Altona Lagoon) there are 10-15 white LED street lights. Anyone know if WAPA is testing them for some reason?

I don't believe they are just testing them. These LED street lights can be seen in many parts of the island. I'm certain I read a while back that WAPA got a grant or something to install several hundred of them. Its probably one of the smarter initiatives they're undertaken in recent memory. The LED street lights are much better and brighter than the old HPS lamps and use way less energy.

there was a project proposal a while ago, with various lighting samples on display on island, and folks could "vote" and tell WAPA which one they preferred. Has been in the works for a while...
