leather couches....bad idea?
No offense, but I really dont like wicker couches. Do leather couches do okay in STT weather though?
Leather becomes moldy here.
I have leather couches on the east end of STX. Two years, no problem.
Wait a second, dnt...Cows don't get moldy... (Can you tell that I want to get a leather couch?) 😉
My neighbor has one on the south side of STT & no problems.
Glad to hear leather works for some people here. I live on the northside of STT and there are always moldy leather items i.e. shoes, belts, etc. at the dumpsters. The only folks i know who have leather furniture here have to run expensive AC so that they don't stick to their sofas and chairs! 😀
Ahh, the pleasures of living in town. No mildew!!

You will have mildew if you have humidity and warmth. In town or in the country don't matter.
Plenty of air circulation will help avoid mildew if you do not run a dehumidifier or AC.
You can also treat the furniture with mold preventing fungicides.
Not going to go there regarding mold or mildew on leather furniture, no experience there, I have cloth /fabric furniture (different types). I don't buy a car with leather seats because as dntw8up said "you kind of stick to it." When parked in the sun it gets really hot! Just my 2 cents.
Never have had mildew in all the time I've lived here but I've always been on the south side.
Although we otherwise suffer from mold issues (my home NW side of STT), my leather couch has never suffered from it.
I've lived west, center and east and have had no mold problems at all. We have leather couches that have held up well. Real leather will breathe in a simular fashion to other materials. Its the cheap leather/vinyl and pleather type stuff that will not breathe and stick to you and make you sweat.
