We're looking at a really great cottage on the East End (near Cotton Valley/Solitude) but we'll have to give up the luxury of having a washer/dryer in the unit 🙁 What's going to be the closest laundromat? Any idea how much it costs?

There is one near the Schooner Bay Market next to Pizza Mare. The place is dreary but close to your location. With the cost of utilities laundromats aren't cheap on STX.

Are there any others that aren't so bad? We both work off of Northside Road so I guess we could go after work if there is someplace better that direction. I'm just dreading spending hours a week sitting in a laundromat. I don't know if that might be a deal breaker for the place we're looking at.

Aren't there any drop-off laundry services on STX? We have those on STT. Costs more, though.

Anyone have an idea how much that costs? That might be a good way to avoid sitting there all day.

We use the laundromat on Prince St across from the Pink Fancy Hotel. I drop it off on my way to work and pick it up on the way home. Nice people in there. We spend $20-$25 per week.

Suds and Duds over by sharmara or the cool out bar is the nicer of the ones I've been to when my machine breaks and its where my single friends go to. They also have drop off service.

Most laundramat washers seem to cost between $3 to $4 dollars depending on size of machine and dryer is .25 cents to dry 10 to 15 minutes each.

Most laundry mats here have drop off services, just look for the one closest and ask.
The cottage you are looking at, can you buy your own washer & perhaps hook it up to an outside water source?
Thats what we did, then strung a line for solar drying & it works perfect! No laundry mats for me boy! Its just a suggestion, ask the landlord if you really like the place.

My washer broke the day of Omar so I've been using laundromats for a couple of weeks (thankfully mine is fixed now!). The one next to Pizza Mare closed several months ago (they are getting ready to re-open in the Golden Rock area by McDonald's - not sure what day they will open but was told it should be soon). I have been using Prince Street Laundry. It is a little old but always clean, usually not much of a wait for machines and the people there are friendly. Suds N' Duds was always really busy every time I went and people were literally fighting over machines last time I was there. As others have said, most of them have drop off service so just ask. Also, I think Welcome (the one moving to Golden Rock) was talking about pickup/delivery service too - not sure what they decided.

i use the place in Richmond - just as you pass the TV station heading towards 5 corners, make the first right (before the hospital). they're really nice, they get your stuff done on time, and they're pretty inexpensive. great place to do towels (which i hate doing at home b/c they use so much energy to wash and dry).

There is one by the Muckle school. Prices are about the same. There is a nice shade tree and folks put their chairs there or their cars there and read while the wash is done. They also do drop offs, but I don't know the price.
