Hi

Who has kodi. Does it take forever for a movie or tv show to load? An how do you watch live sports. Is there also other than Amazon , Hulu and CBS all access, any online tv subscription services for Firestick. Like direct tv now. Slingnor one of those services, that we can get down here. I've heard rumours about people getting sling but they say they don't offer the service down here.

Thanks

I have kodi. It's great, but I don't have it in STX, so I'm not sure if the speeds are good enough for it. I guess if you can use netflix, kodi should work. Live sports sucks on it but I don't really watch sports that much. You can get new movies still in theaters, some are pre copies and some are filmed, some have chinese subtitles, you just never know. Anything 6 months old or more are usually good to watch. I supplement kodi with netflix for some of their network shows. I've had it for almost 2 years now and don't miss regular tv. If you can get network tv with an antennae, you can add that to your tv for sports. If you have any questions, pm me.

Thanks Dave. Kodi is just so slow to load. Everything else seems to be fine. Maybe it needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled

My son Installed it and tried it out. He said he had no problems. So maybe it is just our Internet

I had Kodi in the past and it worked pretty well if internet speeds were decent. I did notice things could get buggy with it though and had to update/reinstall more often as time went on.

Kodi works better on STX (or anywhere for that matter) if you use an unrestricted download hosting service like Real-Debrid. This will also solve the problem of "no stream found" that you will run into using Kodi especially on new releases and popular streams.

I have been using Kodi for a while now. At home I have the BBVI small residential package that provides about 3 - 4 mbps down. Kodi works pretty good for the most part and I'm able to stream movies and TV shows without much buffering. I also have Netflix and Amazon Fire TV. Amazon buffers more than Netflix for sure. With Kodi, you have to keep your repositories up to date as they do move around from time to time to avoid legal issues. (Disclaimer: This information should not be interpreted as condoning the illegal download of copyright material.) Lol...

Roku works well for me with the small BBVI service. Netflix, HBO Now and Amazon. You can also get USTV Now which has about 12 network channels broadcast from a Pennsylvania station, abc cbs NBC pbs discovery National Geographic and others for $29/month.
The Roku devise is @ $50 from amazon and is easy to use

I have Sling TV via an Amazon Firestick for a rental property here that seems to work well with the Viya hotspot, but my last vacationers did say there was a lot of buffering at night but it worked perfectly during the day. Sling has two packages and mine has ESPN and ESPN2 as well for live sports. DirectTV Now is not an option for the USVI. I tried to sign up but it would not accept my payment info. While on hold with a service rep I saw in the fine print that it was not available in the USVI (i.e. a USVI billing address), which the service rep confirmed.

I used my Roku with BBVI just fine while waiting for Viya TV to be fixed. And I used my Viya account to log in to all the channels on Roku. Also watched streaming channels through my smart DVD player with no issues.

its not downloading, that's why it's legal.. :), it's considered streaming so there is no copyright infringement. Anyways, I bought a nvidia shield and a different box. The nvidia is the best, maybe a few more bucks but has plenty of memory, works great with google apps. I'm replacing my other unit with one as well, just for ease of use.

I blew through my Viya hotspot data really fast. Well, I didn't, but my family did! It really slows down for me once the data limit was hit. Viya has been stringing new lines on STJ the last couple of weeks. It will be nice to have better speeds and more data to burn through!

The nvidia shield is a bit expensive, but has more memory and I found it to run google apps better. Much more user friendly, or just jailbreak a firestick. Although I haven't tried it so I cannot comment on it.
