Yes....and....yes.

Expensive is relative. If you are looking for high quality, new ( and just the mattress, no box springs), then it's expensive. Most (all) stores sell in sets. They will sell you the mattress alone, but that's where most of the cost is. The box springs doesn't add that much.

By the way...we have been told that if we buy just the mattress to put on top of a box springs we already have, it will void the warranty. I don't know if that's true of all stores.

You can often find nice, used furniture for sale, as people leave island, or change furniture for whatever reason.

If you post on the classified here that you are looking, you'll probably hear from a few people.

If you are going to be shipping furniture, you might want to include it. If you would only be shipping the bed, then probably not worth it. Buy here.
