Kenneth Mapp
Her radio commercials are soooo annoying. I could never vote for someone who was an active pastor for a church.
From dishonest to delusional?
Not knowing who Mona Barnes is shows how little you've been paying attention and I suspect that nobody has paid attention to her because she has dark skin. Yes, I'm mentioning that card.
Mona is committed to eliminating corruption, too, but she's looking forward instead of backward to old cases against politicians who are no longer in office and are now milking the private sector with government contracts if they are still on island.
I would vote for Mona over Diase because she has less baggage and more creative solutions. She has grown with each forum and does not parrot what others have said. She has a strong military background which can help streamline govt.
She has no political baggage and as far as I know is not beholden to special interest groups. She has more rapport with locals than Diase so has better chance of actually winning more votes. Her poll numbers have risen considerably in just a few weeks per UVI polls.
She has a combative tone, but local voters prefer that because they feel it shows a fighting spirit.
Forums are not objective political news sources. Voters need to take the initiative to get to know the candidates if they want to make educated decisions.
Diase has no chance. Mona has a better chance and is not burdened with political baggage. Sheila is more my style, but she has no chance as governor so I'm voting for someone else who has a shot at winning.
No one is stopping you from voting your choice and who you consider best. Tomorrow night should prove interesting.
So many choices, so little ability and ethics.
Sheila?!?!!!!!!???????????????????????
Good lord, amongst her final words during one of the Ch12 debates, I kid you not, was the statement: "The Virgin islands should be about fun and relaxation"
Are you kidding me? Maybe for a snow bird, but not for someone who lives and works here!
She is so out of touch with reality it's almost comical.
Sad people will vote for who they perceive or think may have a chance at winning rather than the candidate they believed best suited or who they prefer. I don't get the rationale behind it other than being able to say, I voted for the winner, even if I didn't really believe that person was best suited. That's crazy.
If you voted for Nader in 2000, you were handing Bush a victory, even though you probably would have preferred Gore over Bush. Think of it that way.

My smart ass comment warrants this? I feel special now.
upon further reflection, whats the worst that can happen with mapp? i mean canit get any worse than this?
It can get worse.
I think we'd all like things to get better instead of staying the same as it has for decades with the same issues desperately needing to be attention and to be fixed.
Our government has the inability to budget but the ability to waste, misspend, mismanage our money, sinking us further and further into debt while the basic needs of our communities go unmet.
Our government is bloated, there is little transparency and accountability, there's corruption, prices for everything continues to skyrocket and our senators continue to cast a blind eye as to what really needs attention in favor of allocating funds and giveaways to their pet projects to ensure their re-election.
We do not need 15 senators. The costs for taking care of the needs
of a population of 100,000 people are ridiculously high due especially when those needs aren't being met and we are faced with increases in costs to the tax payer to fund the never-ending wasteful spending.
Vote wisely today. Vote as if your life depended on it. It very well may.
Drive safely while out today as flash flood warnings are up for St. Thomas and St. John. St. Croix, too probably.

This is what I love about these forums... =)

Totally agree. This isn't the Melbourne Cup (or Kentucky Derby) so it's not about picking the winner, it's about voting for who you believe is the best candidate for the position! I'll keep preaching that in the hope that common sense will prevail - Yea Right!
Oh, and top 3 STX senators - bloody good question.
From the current crop I'd probably return Sanes and maybe Oreilly, and include McGregor for some fresh blood. Anyone who mentions corruption and judicial reform in the same statement is A-ok in my books.
I have been doing a lot of reading and research from afar and wish I had the chance to vote for Coffelt. She is very inspiring. I think one should vote their conscience and not take strategy into consideration. Perhaps in 4 years I will be able to vote for her.
