If your vehicle is not completely made and assembled in USA, you pay customs duty and rates vary according to where made and/or assembled. Some US cars are assembled in Mexico and since we do not have a trade agreement with Mexico, customs duty is applied to these vehicles. The VIN number will supply info on what duty to pay and you can look it up or call customs. In addition to shipping, you pay road tax as well as a moving permit ($5.00) from shipper to MV, registration and cost of VI title when you go to have car inspected and registered here in VI.

I thought it was very reasonable since Tropical quoted me $2500.00 for my 2009 Nissan Frontier crew cab and it was manufactured in the US because Mimi checked it on the computer before giving me the quote.

Other factors to consider are if they will container it, and if that quote includes insurance while underway. I've shipped 2 small SUVs here (one in 2008, and one in 2011). I received initial quotes of around $1100 but ended up paying around $1400 because I chose to container and/or insure against damage. I shipped both with Tropical and was pleased.

we second this. all sorts of issues, and we even had difficulties with Customs that we attributed to Oneals...we eliminated using their employee after we were informed of issues with the clearing of our container, and dealt with customs ourselves, over the telephone. When we called back to Customs for an update, and our container was all of a sudden ok and cleared, Customs told US to tell the ONeals employee to walk back and pick up the paperwork..they did not want to speak with her.
