Just got job in St Croix.. need car/apt! Help!
Hello! I was just offered a job in St Croix in Kingshill (close to the Superior Court). I am supposed to start the first week of September. I have no car (at least not one in the VI) and no apartment! Any help would be much appreciated.
I would prefer something close to Kingshill even though I understand it is a bad neighborhood. Something that allows dogs is preferable because I would be absolutely heartbroken if I cannot bring my Atlas. I am ok with renting a room out of a house, especially if that means a backyard! I clean up after myself, my dog is not an asshole, and I've been told I'm a nice person. If you know anyone looking for a roommate or of a complex that has immediate availability, that would be a huge help.
I'm told that it would be a huge mistake to not have a car. I already have a car payment in Texas, and I will only be staying the VI for 1-2 years. I am willing to buy a cheap, older car or a moped if the roads are not too bad. Any suggestions there?
Thank you!!!
How big is your dog?
If he has to fly cargo, they don't fly any animals in cargo, no matter the airline (unless it's a private charter which is extremely expensive)from about May - mid Oct. due to extreme heat in cargo.
Good luck.
She is a Doberman Shepard. I did not realize that - that information was not on the airline's website. I will call tomorrow and get more information. I was under the impression that they would be placed in a climate controlled environment.
Edit: Thank you for the warning
I have a 3 bedroom mobile home at pepperttee terrace for rent
Its about a ten minute drive to the courthouse. Pm me if interested . How big is. Your dog? Smaller dogs r ok. Pm me if interested
A Doberman/Sheppard mix isn't going to be a small dog, Jumbi.

It's more about the time spent on the tarmac in the hot sun as opposed to the area on the plane. I believe the rule is that if it is over 85 degrees at any stop on the trip the animal can not fly - however the rule may vary between airlines.
Oooooo, lucky you. Good luck and I hope you are ready for the adventure of a lifetime. I'm not familiar with St. Croix so nothing much to add.
