Joe Boxer bikini(s) from Kmart - STX

I guess this would fall under the "consumer protection" category, too, but I wanted to quickly share my experience with you.

I purchased within the last month a red and white striped Joe Boxer bikini from the Kmart in Sunny Isles. After having worn it maybe 10 times, the red is now bleeding very badly into the white, and anything else it touches -- including my swim towel(s). Since I no longer have the receipt, and the customer service at that Kmart is, um... less than stellar, I can't return the suit. I paid $26.99 for both the top and the bottom, for a total of $53.98. That's more than I normally pay for a swimsuit, and I would certainly expect for that price that it would last more than a month before having to be thrown away! :-X So, if anyone is considering purchasing this suit, or maybe any Joe Boxer suit with white as a main background color, I would strongly discourage you from doing so.

Thanks for listening,
Lisa

Sorry popflops. I would be PO as well. However if I looked awesome in a bikini I wouldn't care if it faded. Hubby wouldn't care either. 🙂

I am kinda of jealous that (a) you can wear a bikini and (B) that you got to wear it ten times in one month 🙂

I agree that Kmart customer service could be better. However, it is my opinion, that an item of clothing worn 10 times should not be returned to the retailer. It would seem your beef is with whoever makes "Joe Boxer". If it is a Kmart brand then I take it back and hope that they will stand by their product.

Tammy and Pamela -- you guys are too funny! (It's only because of extreme diets and some great OTC diet pills that I even can, but that's a whole other story!) 🙂

stxer -- I completely agree with that, and ended up sending an e-mail (with pictures of the bleeding) to the Joe Boxer customer service department. I don't know whether or not anything will come of it, but I can't just throw $54 away every month!

I don't understand why it would start bleeding now. I assume you got it wet during the 10 wearings, or at least some of them. Usually red will bleed the first time it gets wet. There is a very nice lady at the Sunny Isle store. I don't know her name. She is fairly young and quite thin. She's very helpful. Also, there is a lady manager, again..no name (I'm so bad), latino, probably from PR. She really seems to know her stuff. Maybe you will get lucky and get one of them. I'm sure we'll all be curious to hear what happens with the Joe Boxer customer service dept.

Did you pay with a credit card? Maybe they could get the transaction number from the credit card bill and pull up a copy of your receipt??? Worth asking.

Good luck!

I DID pay with a credit/debit card -- I forgot they could do that. Thanks, Juanita! It was very weird that it didn't start bleeding until the last week or so. I've only worn it in the pool, then washed it according to instructions. I'll wait a day or two to see what Joe Boxer says, then take it to Kmart and hope that I don't get the thin, young girl who wears the winter parka. (She positively hateful!)

there is a product for future reference, to use on new colored items. called synthrapol. it helps set the color so it does not bleed. you can find it in a dharma trading company website or catalog. also when washing colors use color catcher, not sure who makes it but it can be found on island.
as for what you have already purchased-go directly to the manufacturer.

Email Joe Boxer, customer service with the situation and tell them how disappointed you are in the swimsuit. If they have a half way decent customer service dept they will respond positively.

i would call kmart headquarters. did you soak it first in white vinegar? i always do that. sets the color.

sorry that happened lisa. if i wore a bikini i would be happy the red dye faded on me. could say it was a sun burn.

and it is strange after you wore it that it would finally fade. unless color released for some reason. lol guy friend bought sandals at
kmart and they faded all over his feet. loved the organish color. he didnt

Tami when did you get back??

Well, I've tried since the 25th to e-mail and call different people from Joe Boxer with no response, so I guess I learned not to ever buy Joe Boxer brand again! Just wanted to give everyone the update. Enjoy your day!

I used to work for Kmart several years ago. Since you paid with a debit or credit card, they can pull up the transaction for you. They may not be able to give you cash back but they can certainly give you store credit. Worth going in and talking to a manager about it. $54 is a lot of money for a Kmart bathing suit. And fyi, jow boxer is a lousy product most of the time and their customer service is even worse than their products. good luck.
