Interested in moving to St Thomas in February, worried about the difficulty in finding a Hotel position (Front Office/Reservations) since it is high season...also, any info. about the lay offs during off season? I have great experience, but I also realize that it is paradise and everyone wants to work for the nice resorts! Any info. would be appreciated!

Hello,

Season runs basically mid-Nov to mid-May or thereabouts. Feb. would be right in the middle and its easy to reason that hotels, restaurants ect. would have hired the staff they need to get them through the high season. Many of the seasonal staff only plan to be on island during high season; this applies more to restaurants rather then front desk and office work. Lay offs during off season are less than you think, mostly because as mentioned seasonal employees that came for this purpose leave on their own at the end of season and then you have a fair share of new residents that don't like it and leave.

The Ritz Carlton lists their jobs online and have an online application... you might take a look there; they had a position for a front desk and a concierge posted just a couple days ago.
