Jobs and Apartments
Hey, we are two recent college grads who are looking for a new and exciting experience! We need advice. Where can we go to look for jobs and apartments in the VI from the US. We have heard that it is easier if you are already there, but we would at least like to have a place to live when we got there. If you can help us in any way please write us back! Thanks so much!

Tiff & Jenn:
There are usually 2 or 3 rentals listed in the Virgin Islands Daily News online version's Classified Section at www.virginislandsdailynews.com (there are usually more in the paper itself). Other than that, about as close as you're going to get without being on island is to order the Basic Relocation Kit listed near the top of this page, which includes recent versions of The Daily News, The Avis and The Island Trader (plus Houses! and Homes magazines, which only include properties for sale). I know this probably isn't what you wanted to hear, but what I'm really saying is that what you heard is true: jobs and apartments are between difficult and nearly impossible to find if you aren't on island.

What about offering a forwarding service for The Avis and The Island Trader -- say ordering a month's worth at a time? Customer orders a month's worth in one advance payment and VI Trader sends them out for the next 4 weeks... ???
would you possibly consider roomates?
Hello Tiff & Jenn!
I haven't lived in the USVI yet, but will be there this summer. I've already booked a room at the Villa Fairview. It seems like the perfect place to get started on St Thomas as they have short term rentals for as low as $600/month with utilities included. You can check out their website at www.villafairview.com and do a search on this messageboard to see all the chatter about it. The place comes up quite a bit on this site...mostly good comments...one very bad one that I saw...guess you can't please everyone. I think the guy just didn't have realistic expectations...but then again who knows I may be surprised too when I get there. The owner Ronnie frequents this site and also responds quickly to emails if you'd like to contact him. His email address is on the website.
There's a place called the Flamboyant Manor that is supposed to have long term rentals as well but I haven't been able to get a response from them.
Hope this helps.

Ooops, I meant that the Flamboyant Manor is supposed to have SHORT term rentals...guess I should try the preview button next time.
BTW-- they have a website too. its www.flamboyantmanor.com
I didn't try calling them so you may have better luck with that route.
