Island housing geography
I am researching housing and there are references to north, south east and west...I understand the red hook area and CA, can anyone narrow down the location when someone says apartment for rent east end.....etc.....possibly, street areas....I will be working primarily in the CA, Havensight, Crown bay marina....I won't mind a drive.....really don't want to drive back and forth from red hook everyday.....I was down town with my co-workers and they told me to stay away from the back street areas of the downtown area.
So in a roundabout way, recommendations to a safe, clean, easily access able..(as possible) area taking into consideration where I will be working.

Frenchman's Bay, Havensight, Bolongo and Bakkero are all not a long drive to town. Also if you live on the north side the drive to town is not bad.
Cuzzin's is on Back Street, I woudn't avoid it! But seriously, you will want to look around, see what is your cup of tea. Besides glynnswife's suggestion, you might want to look in the Frenchtown area.
i drove out past the uvi this morning and i'd love to find an apt out there, i'm in frenchmens bay and i love it but the traffic going into town is awful because of the boats
If you are mostly working in CA and Crown Bay, I would recommend the Crown Mountain area. It is less than 5 minutes to Crown Bay and maybe 10 to the middle of CA. You will avoid the Havensite traffic which can be brutal. I do own an apartment building on Crown Mountain, but we don't currently have anything available. However, there are other apartments around here. They are usually listed under the south or other rentals in the Island Trader. Caret Bay and Estate Pearl is just about 1/2 mile up Hwy 33, would also be a close options.
