I saw this on a Virgin Islands Facebook page. I don't know if this has been discussed here or not. It would be interesting if it's true. I thought I'd post it over here since you guys seem to have the inside info most of the time 🙂

More than interesting. Is it possible that Hovensa has a buyer that even the VI government is not talking about? This is a pretty specific employment search. This could change everything...

So I'm sitting here reading this board, which I've done for years and years. Someone clicks a ghost post about a headhunter add for a professional oil refinery CEO on some unknown US Virgin Island. Assuming that this add was not placed as a malicious attempt to raise hopes.

What can we think? Turner-Lovell is, I think a headhunter, however they often find staff for Chevron. I am really surprised that few others here have reacted to this post. Hey, maybe they know something I don't and they don't want this information leaked too early.

We are only talking about the future economic health of an entire island....

My husband and I discussed this tonight. A headhunter ad means nothing. They may have seen a job posting from a year ago and have posted it as a "go fish" type of opportunity. We need more evidence before we take it to mean something is moving forward with a sale.

My thoughts exactly. Head hunters often do that type of blind ad. Also, it notes South America/Caribbean - Virgin Islands which, to me, is how an older ad for Hovensa may have been listed. Time will tell...

I haven't commented because I find this no different than the hundreds of rumors I've heard for that site... I am in the industry, I hear stuff, I get information, and a person I trust currently works inside Hovensa as I write this...

I recommend extreme caution... I am sure the newspapers would have jumped on this by now... Yet, several days and nothing happens...

P.S. I noticed at least 3 red flags in that job post...

I just sent an email to Rigzone in regards to the job posting. I'll share what they say, if anything.

"Thanks for your email. The location for this job is for: South America / Caribbean.

As we just advertise the jobs for our client, if you don't much information than the one in the ad. We advise you to go directly to the client.

Please let us know if you need any assistance.

I hope no one on this board thought I was posting this ad to start anything or be malicious in any way (or sell condos)! I honestly saw this on a Facebook page called St Croix Think Tank where people are discussing different ways to help the island and get it more prosperous again. Someone found this article and posted it and the members were discussing it as in 'could it be true?' I thought some of you who lived on St Croix may know. I just wanted to let you know that I wasn't trying to start a rumor. Hopefully if you look back at all my posts you can see that I dearly love St Croix and want the best for the island and the people who live there.

It never crossed my mind that there could be any special intentions behind it.... I do, as always, recommend caution... Specially after Poodle got that reply...

Thank you very much for the replies, I thought maybe I'd been hasty in posting what could have possibly just been a rumor. Love this forum and don't want anyone mad at me 🙂

Thanks for sharing that info... Now it makes sense to me on why the post said it was for a 140K plus B.P.D. refinery... which is El Palito's rating... That was one of the 3 red flags I noticed on the ad... Hovensa's East Refinery is rated above 300 B.P.D.....
