Not that I want to gamble, but is the Divi casino open and if not when? The Recovery Blog and others have said the casino would reopen mid-December and the Divi hotel in May 2018. As a timeshare owner, I just received an email stating the hotel now will not be reopening until late fall 2018.

No word yet on when or if the casino will reopen.

The casino isn't open yet. Not much damage at the casino. Roof and air conditioning mainly . Those things need to be fixed befor . Last I heard, as soon as those are fixed they can open.
Hoping so any how. I've heard nothing to indicate they will not reopen

Anton Kuipers, Divi general manager, said the casino laid off 144 employees, leaving a staff of 28. Andreas Conhoff, general manager of the Divi hotel, said only 40 out of 200 rooms are being used and 100 of 125 employees have been discharged. All employees are receiving unemployment compensation, and were given $800 and continue to receive health insurance and retirement benefits.
Both managers said they could not estimate the damage to their facilities and that they have been promised some interaction from their insurance companies before the end of January. Local contractors have estimated six to eight months to rebuild, given access to materials, etc., Conhoff said. Kuipers said they would be ready to start construction as soon as they get insurance commitments.
Golden speculated the Divi hotel and casino “would probably open for Christmas” and Richards asked if they projected any income in 2018. Neither manager had an answer.

I don't know I drove around the casino parking lot a couple weeks ago and didn't see any obvious damage to the building.

The majority of the damage to the casino was caused by water getting in after the air conditioning units were blown off the roof.

You mean other than the wall of plaster missing on that whole side? As I said previous it was mostly air condition and roof damage. And other than the one wall to the right, not much is visible.
We just had that roof repaired prior to the hurricane. All that work has to be redone
Yes. Each place has a minimal staff. I have had no indication it will take to the end of the year for the casino to open.
I can understand for the resort thought, they did suffer extensive damage

Any update on when the resort is opening? Last this I saw published was December 2019.

that is still the expected open time frame. work is ongoing. have you driven by to see whats going on?

We stopped by in April but haven’t been on the island since then.

They are tearing it down to the studs. And they are supposed to remodel the lobby of the casino. The drawings looked really nice But they sure have a lot of work to do it they want to open by the end of the year
