We are already in the stages of moving and was wanting to know if anyone bought the Settlers Handbook advertised on this website and thought it was worth it. Thanks!

I don't know... I think it depends on how much you've read on this website and how much time (PMV) you've already spent here. I was given a copy after I'd spent 2 years reading this website and had lived on STX for a month, and I didn't think it told me much that I hadn't already come across elsewhere. But if you haven't read the older discussions here and haven't done a PMV, then I think it would be very useful.

It provided me with a great deal of information in one place.

I used it before and after moving. I still use it as a reference.

Well worth the price for me. 🙂

LindaJ & I went thru two editions. I recommend people "memorize" the book. It's great.

It'll let you know it's raining, it won't tell you it's a hurricane.

I did not think it was worth it at all, this message board and a visit will tell you much more. Read this message board like its a book and you will get a greater depth of info.

Here's my take on the Settler's Handbook - it's a source of information. It costs $15.95. If spending that small amount of money to learn something (anything) about where you might want to live for a significant part of your future life gives you cause for concern then you probably aren't financially ready to make the move.

Buy the book, you may learn something, you may not. Either way, you'll be better informed.

Well we have already done a lot of research, the premove visit, got the job and made the commitment to move, sounds like the book will be helpful as well. Thanks for all our input, much appreciated.
