I am just asking because I have tried reaching a couple of friends..and the calls don't seem to be going thru..does anyone know of any issues going on?

What carrier are they using?

Sometimes in the evening, particularly after the snow birds start arriving there are not enough circuits to get the calls to and from the islands. Being an island there aren't any alternative routes.

My Cingular phone has been great on the island, but every now and then does what can only be described as 'weird' things. I'll try to call someone and get some recorded error message in Spanish, fast busy signals, etc. Typically I have the most trouble on big cruise ship days (we had a 6 ship day a few days ago) so that definitely supports the overloaded system theory. I also heard from a Cingular employee that they're doing upgrades on the island so some services may be spotee.
