Introducing the “new” St. C Condominiums

Given this is a "moving" forum on which people frequently inquire about real estate, I thought some might be interested in new developments happening at St. C Condominiums on St. Croix.

St. C, the largest condo complex on the island, is undergoing a major facelift as the community prepares for St. C’s 40th anniversary next year. The project is implementing significant improvements to the complex’s physical plant. The work includes repairing the roofs, replacing all wooden railings and decking, and patching masonry on all buildings, as well as giving all buildings a fresh new coat of paint. In addition, the pool has been completely rebuilt, landscaping of the property has been significantly enhanced, and new signage is being deployed. Personally, I think the place looks amazing.

Later this year, a new and expanded security station and entrance gate will cap the renovation initiative.

Accompanying the renovation is the first-ever website for the complex, www.stccondo.com, which contains key information on St. C, as well as a photo gallery and the history of this unique development.

The renovation and website are a precursor to a slate of 40th anniversary celebration activities in 2014, details on which will be available on the St. C website in the coming months.

Full disclosure: I'm a newly elected member of the St C board of trustees and a member of the association's marketing committee, so I of course have a vested interest in spreading the word. But we do have a number of units for sale right now, and the price points are very attractive. Anyone wanting more information on the complex, including rental or purchase opportunities, should check out www.stccondo.com or call the St. C office at 340.718.6341.

Thanks for listening.

nice website, I liked the history page especially. The hotel restaurant was always a good time with some great food.

Any plans for the hotel side of the property?

Thanks for your feedback, Cruz. As for the hotel property: Lots of plans and ideas and wishes, but the St C Condo association does not own the property.

I am also a resident (part time) there. I feel it has the best views and the lowest condo fees of any condos next to the water. There are some that have cheaper fees, but are inland without a view. I can see STT, STJ, and Buck Island from my living room.

I can't get the website to work-- it's saying it's not a website. I'm eager to see the pictures and esp the historical ones.

And not to be picky, but I stayed there a few weeks in July 1971 in a condo at the edge of the cliff overlooking the water. (beautiful view!) We knew about the condos and asked to stay there so I'm guessing the first group were actually built in '70 maybe?

I'm so glad to see this lovely place being kept up so nicely. We were visiting St Croix in May and watched them painting it and replacing some of the original blue panels in the railings which was a little sad to me... Still, it does look so nice now and I guess we all have to move on with the times. 🙂

Paula--you're right, the first group of buildings was started in 1969 and finished in 1970. The 40th anniversary refers to the completion of the entire complex as it stands now--the buildings on the upper level were finished in 1974.

The link worked for me now, thank you so much! I loved seeing the section under 'history'-- this was my time there 🙂 I'm so happy St. C is still alive and kickin' and looking very nice indeed:@) Great website. I remember my dad thinking about buying one of the condos in 1971--- WHY didn't he?! We could have enjoyed so many vacation years back on St Croix instead of vacationing here and there and finally making it back 'home' in 2004. Thanks again!

Paula--thank you for your kind words about the complex and the website. We're really excited about both, and looking forward to our celebration activities next year.
