Internet for Snowbirds
Good afternoon board. I understand this subject has been brought up many times. I am on island 3-4 times a year for 3-4 weeks. The last time I was there, I could hardly get any connection at all from my smartphone. Internet is a small part of what I do for work, so it is my way of contributing to my business while I am enjoying St. Croix.
I am wondering what options there are without paying $100 a month for 12 months. I remember seeing an ad about a local company offering snowbird service (only pay when being used), but my online research has failed to find results. Another option was a device that plugs into a laptop or tablet that acts as a modem (or something). But I don't know if that was something I would acquire on island or get through my cable company or cell service provider. Anyone have a knowledge or success with these type of devices?
If anyone has any thoughts or other options, it would be greatly appreciated.
Jeff
Sorry, I tried to post this last week and got an error message. I assumed it didn't post but just now saw that it did. I would delete it if I knew how. Thank you.
