Interesting NASA Video not about USVI
Wow! I was away for a few days and a lot of threads have been cleaned up/removed.
Anyway. I saw this the other day and thought it was interesting.

It's probably a Republican/Theist conspiracy!
Here's the prequel to rotorhead's video, according to the Giant Impact Hypothesis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_impact_hypothesis .
The first video picks up at 4.5 billion years ago. This is before that, when Theia smacked us.

Divine intervention? Prayers for intersession?
ummmm... but Republican Christianity would have you believe that the entire cosmos is no older than 5000 years. At most. I think this must smack of blasphemy! 😉
Nah, the universe was actually created last Thursday. Everything that we think happened before that is just planted memories and planted fossils. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omphalos_hypothesis
I had this discussion with my father. He is very very evangelical Southern Baptist. I asked him about the Creation Museum in Kentucky. The one which has dinosaurs coexisting with humans. Dinosaurs on Noah's Ark.
He said "I don't know what you believe, but my god could have put those 65 million year old fossils in the ground when he created the Earth 6000 years ago."
I responded "So he's just playing with us?". Actually I think instead of "playing" I used the the F word that Iris got in trouble for. He said that god can do anything he wants, he's god.
I said, that's not what I would consider a god, more like a sadistic tyrant.
Anyway, chill! Science is the best path. Religion doesn't provide any answers, it just stops you from asking the questions.
Enjoy the fruits of science and try to avoid the repercussions of religion.
