How easy is inter-island travel? I have a Settler's Handbook that mentions a "fast ferry"- what are the rates? Is there a slow ferry? I've gotten the idea that sea plane trips are about $40 ea way, is that accurate?

Thanks

Hi Darrell,

As someone who's only taken the seaplane once, I can highly recommend it. Friendly pilots, fast service, relatively painless on and off loading, centrally located on STT, convenient to $2 taxi buses on STX.

My ticket was high because it was paid for by the university, and it was a flex ticket or something like that. If you book in advance, tho, you can get a round trip ticket for $80, from what I understand.

Fully refundable seaplane tickes are $77.50 each way. Discount tickets are $67.50 each way.

If you take the ferry one way and the seaplane the other the cost is $47.50 each way. The ferry doesn't go into service until mid December.

Like all airlines better deals are sometimes available.

Hello,

You can find all the inter-island USVI ferries with rates, schedule, info., operator ect. at

http://vinow.com/general_usvi/interisland_ferry/

The St. Croix - St. Thomas fast ferry is the only ferry between those two islands.
