Never used Innovative's dsl service, so can't comment on that. However, based on past experience, their repair/installation/troubleshooting service can be seriously frustrating.
I'm currently using Choice's $57/month 3 megabit internet plan. Works good most of the time. My only complaint is that their green packet modem tends to reset randomly, which can be annoying at times. On the plus side, the modem is portable and I usually keep mines in the truck with me while on the go, powered by a cigarette lighter adapter I purchased off ebay.
I have wifi for my gadgets whether I'm home or out and about.
what a great idea.
Speeds seem to be all over the place.
speed test on Choice . East End of STJ. to miami. 051313
John: No Angie's list in the VI. I'm not sure many places care about customer feedback. When there is little competition, there is little need to improve.
DING DING DING DING
Hello all, thought I would provide you with an update!
Innovative finally came out, and service was turned on.
Fast forward to this week: we were on autopay. Had never received a bill, call, any communication whatsoever from innovative, so we assumed our account was fine.
The internet stops working randomly this monday. After 2 hours on the phone (virtually every option listed in the menu is not active), we are told the account has been terminated for non-payment (what!?), and we need to submit a written request stating we would like service from them, and THEN pay. One cannot simply give the credit card info (which they already have) over the phone.
Anywho, after being given the wrong email address, we call back and finally get the correct one. Three notices have been sent asking for information, none of which have been responded to.
This company is an absolute nightmare. Calling it an incompetent shitshow would be a compliment they do not deserve. Try calling them and reaching customer service if you want. You will be told all of your entries are invalid, disconnected numerous times, and if by chance you do get through, you will be told you need to go through some archaic procedure to have the most basic task accomplished.
End rant, BBVI all the way.
I called about my Innovative cable box deposit.
I returned the box in Nov. after waiting 3 hours (or more) for the pleasure of doing so.
Was told, this time, it would be sent out, this time, after my umpteenth call.
9 months after I returned it and am still waiting.
Maybe, I'll get lucky, who knows?
And their service is a step above Choice which will drive you insane and leave you no choice but to terminate, terminate terminate!
I am loving BBVI tho pricy.
Good Luck DE!
Try filing a complaint with the PSC. I did this after waiting a few months for a refund. They lit a fire under Innovative and I finally got the deposit back.

Always worked for me whether the company be Innovative or anyone else to write a letter to the CEO first. Two or three 'phone calls and I'm done with that route!

When Prosser owned Innovative writing letters to him wasn't worth the postage. He was only interested in squeezing every dime out of the company for his own use. Never got a response from him or anyone working from Innovative.
There are many horror stories regarding Innovative and the negative recommendations and hatred of Innovative are well earned. For every person that swears by Innovative there are probably ten that swear at them.
Life is short, best advice is if at all possible avoid using Innovative if you have any other option.

When Prosser owned Vitelco I did have an issue once which wasn't resolved by telephone requests and then by mail and contacted the PSC which, as in your case, quickly resolved the problem. Vitelco is no more and Prosser is no longer in the picture.
My point is (regardless what one's opinion is of Innovative specifically) the first logical step when several telephone calls to a company fail to produce any results is to write a letter to the person at the top of the chain. I'm not sure why anyone would continue making telephone calls month after month without doing something so simple as writing which in most cases leads to resolution.
Ironically when this problem first began I did email the CEO. He said he'd look into it and get back to me.
Still waiting on his reply- I hope 3 months is enough time, I don't wanna be pushy, chuppssssss 🙂

When you didn't hear anything back at all after a week or so did you even consider sending a followup asking if your email was received?

OT, our resident Innovative fan. The hired gun CEO working for the Bank in DC who lent Prosser $600mil and are trying to dress up a pig to sell it to some sucker did not get back to DE after 3 months.....after responding to his original email.
Meanwhile, St. Croix is experiencing 17% unemployment, but Innovative brings in a hundred guys from Puerto Rico to run their new coax cable......

Oh get off that boring schtick and, more, check your facts and stop getting your knowledge from the street corner. There weren't enough trained or qualified workers available in the USVI labor pool to fill all the positions needed for the job. Hundreds of local workers were hired locally and that number far surpassed the number brought in from off-island.
Apart from that, who doesn't check back with someone who says they're going to "get back to you" when several weeks have elapsed and they don't? Obviously some do.
Ah, no, OldTart, there were lots of skilled workers here protesting the Innovative installation. I know several of them. The real reason Innovative hired from Puerto Rico was that it was easier and cheaper to sub the job out to one company, vs. hiring individual installers.
And there weren't "hundreds of local workers" hired. Where do you get your information?
Oh, I will say, after the protests, Innovative said they were hiring some local workers to assist on the crews. You know what they hired them for? To direct traffic. They stood there with the "stop" signs.

Oh the usual boring and disreputable sources - media, quoted transcripts from senate hearings/Labor Board, etc. You know, all that dreadfully irrelevant stuff which some just don't bother to read. This was investigated and hashed out at the time in the light of complaints from a few unemployed workers who cried foul and the issue was laid to rest to the satisfaction of the local investigative bodies.
Eh never mind. Not worth debate.

And you know these were the "imported" workers because they were Hispanic? 😀
It was supposed to be a five year project. The owners then decided they wanted to get it done in eighteen months. To accomplish this they brought in multiple contractors.
To meet this schedule the contractors worked 10 -12 hours per day including most Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Locals just are not used to working lots of overtime to meet tight schedules. The promoter of the Iron Man Triathlon had to make a special request to Innovative to keep their contractors from blocking the roads on the day of the race.
Same thing happened with local labor when they built the new distillery. Specialized equipment and skills were needed along with the dedication to work long hours. The contractors at the distillery seemed to work dawn to dusk daily right through the three weeks which are considered the Christmas holidays by Crucians so the project could be completed on time.
Also the skill set needed for some of the tasks in rebuilding Innovative's systems are not available locally and are beyond what can be taught in a couple week class. The contractor I spoke with that was doing splicing and activating the new plant had 25+ years experience stateside before moving to Puerto Rico. He originally came to STX when Innovative hired contractors to repair/rebuild the plant here after Omar blew it down.
I had these crews working on my neighborhood road and the roads I traveled daily. The majority of those that I spoke with were from PR.
Some of the trucks had no signage or lettering so was curious as to what they were doing and for whom.
Oh, and no-one (WAPA nor Innovative) had them cutting the vines and bush growing up the poles.
If I call WAPA about a pole that has exceedingly heavy weight for vines, etc., they tell me to call Innovative and Innovative says it's WAPA's problem. Not my job, mon!
