Does anyone know if I upgrade from 512? to the higher 1020? will Facetime work? I'm having a no luck with Facetime and I can't watch Youtube videos because they keep pausing. Will upgrading help with these issues? Thanks for your help 🙂

You will probably do a little better with the faster speed, but I had to switch to bbvi 4 meg service to do video chat and watch movies without pausing or choppiness.

Your first mistake was going with Innovative.

Can't help with the technical question but I use Innovative DSL and have had very few complaints, On the very few occasions when I've had a problem their tech support has been very reliable and helpful in fixing the issue and, for the price, I've no problems at all. Not everyone can afford the price of BroadbandVI which seems to be the current provider of choice and our options here are few.

The faster service won't help much. Your only option at the moment is BroadbandVI which is a little more expensive but worth it. Innovative is rolling out a hybrid fiber/coax network that should put it on par but we'll see how it works out.

Hey Innovative internet is a wired service. Currently with the 512kb and 1020 kb speed, copper is use to send your data to the nearest service or call station( kinda like a cell tower).

Coaxial cable is used in the upgrade 🙂 sending your signal to fiber and then straight to the service station.

512 can work but of my friends rarely get that speed with innovative.

I recommend you get the speed test app on your iphone or just use your computer to check the speed. Make sure the router signal is good.

PM me if you have anymore questions.

Thanks for all the replies! I did upgrade but it isn't supposed to go into effect for 24-48 hrs. I was told that Innovative was my only choice in this area of STJ. I'll let you know if it works!

What area of St. John?
You can call Tory from Broadband VI at 340-626-7873 and he will let you know.

I cannot get either Choice or Broadband on STJ. Have Innovative, work from home and need internet, and have NO issues...as far as I am concerned the service is great and reliable.

My Innovative service has been really good too. Facetime still will not work even with the upgrade 🙁 so I downloaded Skype and it seems to work fine.
