innovative and Tivo, a unique problem

New to St. Croix, and renting for a short while we decide where we want to settle. Innovative cable is included with rent (private home). Tried to add a cable card to get my Tivo Premiere up and running, but apparently we are receiving expanded cable through the box while only paying for basic. Since this is not my home or my account I am just leaving things alone. I would still like to have my Tivo though. Does anyone have experience with the older model Tivo (series 2) working with innovative without a cable card? I have the small cable box currently controlling the channels.

I have four TiVo Series II boxes (all with lifetime service) - three at my residence, and one in my rental unit. Overall, I have had good luck with them. I cannot access any of the expanded capabilities (Search, Kidzone, etc). TiVo Customer service was completely useless.
A couple years back, when I considered upgrading, I visited Innovative (in person), and they literally laughed at me when I asked about cable cards. If and when I ever return to the states, I'll upgrade. For now, I'm happy with what I've got.

How are your series 2's hooked up? Straight to the line or through the cable box.
