Good evening everyone. As my relocation to the USVI is a year away (~summer 2010) I will not inquire for information that is probably available on this site. I AM, however, arriving on the 15th to meet with a couple of representatives of the local educational institutions (I am a teacher), both public and private, and to get the "lay of the land" so to speak. As I only have a week and will spend that week on STT, I was curious as to whether there was a place or places where the locals tend to gather so I can perhaps gain insights, both pro & con, from people that have been in the islands awhile and have gone through the relocation process.

Locals gather all over the place. Did you mean bars/restaurants? Where do you plan on staying? Ronnie who posts here has a B&B & he's born here & is a font of information. Lots of locals hang out at Hook, Line & Sinker in Frenchtown, for example.

Thanks Trade,
Bars/restaurants...wherever the locals hang after hours. I am staying on the northside and am renting a place for the week from someone that posts to this site (thank you again Suzette). I'll definately check out the Hook, Line & Sinker in Frenchtown and see what happens. This IS a great website and forum, but even when using the "search" option there are intangibles that are not readily available. Such as: best place for a haircut; finding a reliable mechanic...dentist...doc...plumber...electrician and so on. Only a local can provide that info based upon experience (and preference) and having gone through the "been there, done that" routine inherent to moving to a unique region. Thanks again for your assistance.

There's also Tickles Dockside Pub in Crown Bay or Molly Molone's in Red Hook. Lots of boaties at Tickles or Hook, Line & Sinker along with the Land Lubbers.

Oh my goodness ! I just read this message - I see we chose the right place to go to dinner for your last night here. It was lots of fun having you stay here and we look forward to your permanent move to the Island !
