Wanting to find info on USVI St Thomas or other islands,

If anyone would have some suggestions on cheap but decent places to stay while scouting the island for work and apartments i would be grateful.
I'm looking to find work and apartment as close as possible to one another.
Also wondering what part of the island is again cheap but decent area to live in.
Wish i was made of money but sadly no. If anyone knows of any websites that are good to visit to find any work or apartment listings that would be helpful as well.

Again looking for the best possible area(s) that are decent but inexpensive to live that would be close to work opportunities. And of course a place to stay while scouting.

Thanks

Well I do know that nothing is cheap! But a good way to make it cheap is to get a small place(like a one bedroom) for 3 or 4 people, it's hard but a couple of my friends did it! Hi my name is Melissa, my friend and I are moving to St. John on Nov 13th, and we have many of the same questions. Where do you plan to stay? When do you arrive? Good luck maybe we'll see you there!

You'll find a wealth of information by clicking on the search and looking around. Good luck!

Hello,

You might consider getting the relocation kit shown at the top of this page. The Settlers Handbook comes in that kit and is a good resource for someone moving to the islands. Also you can get a couple newspapers to give you an idea of the classifieds for jobs, cars, apartments that are out there.

What type of job are you looking for? The East End in general is a good area if you want something in resturants (several in Red Hook and then at the hotels), hotels (quite a few on the East End), working on a boat (several Marinas in that area)... and living in the same area.

Whats cheap to you, whats your budget?

Hello all,

Sorry for the delay in replies, had to step away from the computer for a little while.
After searching all day every day for information i think that my brain froze (had to let it thaw out). Thanks to everyone for suggestions on where to look and what to do. I'm not really sure when i plan to leave, possibly near the end of November Melissa. My plan is to stay on the island of St Thomas. The east end sounds good thanks to islander's suggestion. Islander from your description of the east end that sounds exactly what i'm looking for. My budget for rent would be around 600.00 to 700.00 a month for a studio or 1 bdrm if they exist. As far as work is concerned i would aim for something in the hotel industry. Is that something that has many openings? Or should my focus be somewhere else? And if anyone knows of a good place to stay while scouting for apartments again i would be eternally greatful.

Hello,

The hotel industry is a good place to look; restaurants, office work, front desk, activities... check Ritz Carlton's employment section, they have a number of VI jobs listed.
