I'm on my way!
Hello everyone. I've been on the board the last month or so. I've had a lot of questions answered and have learned a lot. I just sold my car, finally. The only problem is my flight was for LAST Tuesday. Anyway, I can change my flight and get down there any day now. I'm a little nervous. I'm coming down by myself and have never even been to St. Thomas before. I have a job, I think...
Are there any days that are better than others to arrive? I'll stay in a guest house or similar for a few days until I find a place. I'll probably be working at Noche in Frenchtown. Any late advice would be appreciated.
Keep me posted on the VINOW get together on STT.
Thanks,
Matt
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE CLOSE TO TOWN-- GO TO THE GREEN IGUANA HOTEL. MIKE AND LINDA (THE CARETAKERS) ARE GREAT. YOU ARE TREATED LIKE FAMILY. WE ARE STILL FRIENDS WITH THEM. YOU CAN DO SHORT OR LONG TERM. WE STAYED AT THE CONDO PART FOR OVER A YEAR AND JUST LOVED IT.
IF YOU ARE WORKING IN TOWN, YOU JUST WALK DOWN 99 STEPS.
Hey Matt,
If you work at Noche, maybe we can have the get together there! I LOVE their white sangria....yum.
As far as days for arrival, I would urge weekday arrival...just in case their are matters you need to attend to during work hours. Also, keep in mind that THURSDAY is the day the Island Trader comes out. So you should probably have a few days to settle before hitting the road and checking out apartments.
Katie,
I emailed the Green Iguana about a month ago to find out the cost of their long term rentals and never heard back. Can you share some details about your stay there including cost (if you feel comfortable doing that). It would be greatly appriciated as I am trying to explore ALL of my options. Thanks, Elle
Probably the best way to contact them is to call. I am surprised that you did not recieve a email back. Look up their website. We did a year lease so it was a bit cheaper. We stayed in the condo area, not the hotel part. It was a two story loft. It had a spiral staircase to the bedroom. Price is < $1000. This was 2000 when we started living there, so I dont know what the rates have done since then. We grew out of it or we would still be there. So ask about monthly because those rates are different. Call and talk to Mike. Tell him Katie and Jim say hi.
look up their website www.thegreeniguana.com
I hope this helps

Katie,
Thanks for the scoop. I actually logged onto their sight again today and did a brouchure request and asked about the monthly lease in the comments section. I will give them a call too. I will make sure to tell them you said hello! Thanks again for the info.
