I'm moving to St. Thomas.. can I bring my plants...
I know it sounds ridiculous with all the wonderful greenery on the island, but I've had a few ivy's growing for more than 7 years and they are LONG, full, really beautiful ivys. I was thinking to put them in plastic (without the pots) and put them in a suitcase. Is that allowed or will the agriculture people say NO WAY? does anybody know? ALSO, I want to get a nice small to medium puppy for my 11 yr. old.... are there many choices there at the humane society? Thanks for your help? June - oh yeah... I'm moving from NYC.... What a difference, right?
I don't remember the answer to this question but I know someone has asked it before - you might want to scroll through the old post to find it. If I see it, I'll copy and paste to this post.
There are some more post on the next page regarding this, but here is what I found:
there are restrictions on plants... however coming from the states the inspections you would pass through would all be stateside so you would need to find out if there are any restrictions from your airline and local airport. You don't pass through inspection once you get to the USVI airport when arriving from a US airport. If you are coming from a foreign airport you would and yes they check for plants and fruits in those cases. How were you going to travel with them? Just curious. Definately contact your airline and see if they can assist with any regulations that would apply stateside to your plants.
Good luck!
Hello June,
I will makes some calls and find out about this - stay tuned.
