I'm in trouble in London.....NOT!!!
Be aware this SCAM has started up again, if it ever stopped. A friend of mine got a bogus message this morning. At least one woman on STX was a victim a while back.
In case you don't know, the scam is you get a text message or IM from a friend saying they are in London and need money. The message is NOT from your friend. Call your friend. Don't send money, and according to my friend, you should delete the message and change your password.
I saw this last week...from GREECE!
I know someone who travels a great deal & this creep sent out emails to his contacts under his name.
Speaking of scams, I just got an email from Windows live team. The subject line says something like VERIFY YOUR HOTMAIL ACCOUNT NOW TO AVOID CLOSURE. I've had the same hotmail address for about 13 or so years, and I've never had to verify anything. I'm afraid to even open the email. Anybody know anything about it?
I have been getting the same type of email about my PayPal account too. I've just ignored it, and my account is fine.
A few months ago, I received an official looking AOL alert looking email that wanted to verify my credit card number and date of expiration date or the account would be closed. Didn't do it and account if fine!
Juanita, I think the VERIFY HOTMAIL ACCT is a scam. I've ignored those messages for a year and have never had a problem otherwise.
I also hear that paypal or hotmail or any similar account will always address you by name if they do send an email. Most of these scams address the header as "Paypal User" or Dear "Hotmail User".
Good tip, aquaponics. Thanks.
