Ikea site for the VI
I've just received my first VI specific mailer from IKEA.
I thought I'd pass along the information for those interested.
Their website is www.IKEA.vi and their local phone number is (340) 489-0444
We've personally had good luck with their household items (towels, sheets, curtains, kitchen goods, etc.) and it looks like they might have made the free shipping over $250 a more permanent thing.
One word of caution, try for the solid wood if you get furniture, it will hold up here better than the composite woods in the heat and humidity.

I saw that too. I'm so accustomed to buying on the mainland and having my orders shipped to Paradise Freight that I'll stick with that. The prospect of having to deal with Excise, Customs and the clusterf**k at the dock is just too much for me to bear. It can't be any cheaper buying from the Puerto Rico store.

This…..Bought a bed from IKEA Puerto Rico because of the free shipping deal. It was a royal pain in the a$$ running the importation gauntlet, as I wasn’t familiar with the process. It took me a full half day and it wasn’t free.
Any advice you can share on how to get through the process with an IKEA order?
We have not placed an order yet, but any guidance would be appreciated!
@rewired It was about 18 months ago. I received notification that my shipment was in a warehouse out near the airport. When I got there I was told I couldn’t collect the package until after I’d completed the importation documents and paid the customers duties. They told me roughly where I could find (at the airport) a 3rd party company that could handle the importation documentation (for a small fee) after which I needed to go to the customs office and pay any duties owed, after that I should return to the warehouse with the proper paperwork and they would release the shipment.
The 3rd party importation firm and the customs office aren’t really setup to deal with the consumer so it took me a little time to figure everything out. None of this is difficult, once you know what to do, but it’s still a pain, takes time and isn’t free.
Hopefully that helps. It was long enough ago that I don’t recall the name of the warehouse company (it was in the same industrial park as Leatherback Brewing near the airport) or the 3rd party importation agent, other than they were close to the customs office on the airport.

My advice is to buy from Ikea on the mainland, have it shipped to Paradise Freight and let them deal with customs, excise and the like. Your order will be about the same price from Ikea and you'll have substantially less bother to be concerned with. Then, load and go!
