Caught myself. I had a professor in journalism school who threatened Fs if first and annual were somehow used together. Always causes me fear to see that happen. Just shared the angst.

I always thought First Annual meant that they are hoping to make it an annual event so people look for it next year. Your journalism professor should have taken marketing.

There is no hope for continuity until the second year.

First Annual is predictive and doesn't describe the present state of affairs which news reporters should report. You could say 'first of a planned series of annual' but until the event has occurred twice it isn't actually being held annually.

Marketers sell hope, among other things. I don't agree with your professor. That's just one point of view, and I have expressed mine.

I'm glad to see another car show. They tried one last year on St John, but not sure how successful it was since I didn't go.

They have car shows at several popular events on St Thomas, and the community loves them. It gives a chance for car owners to get recognition and attracts males of all ages which may create mentoring opportunities or career opportunities. Maybe at some point the car shows will attract the attention of car manufacturers and auto repair training schools who will provide sponsorship and scholarships.

Auto repair and maintenance is a huge business in the Caribbean, but is mostly ignored by the auto companies, imo. Maybe more auto events will help change that.

First Mammogram. Second annual mammogram since you've proved you're a good girl the first year by repeating the second year. And if you're late in getting your mammogram the third time and delay it a couple of years, it's your third mammogram.

First payment. Second annual payment but if you're late enough, it's a second payment.

"Inaugural" is another preferred term grammatically although this whole nit-pickiness is just daft.

My problem came with old eyes and glasses fogged up with dirt from pulling weeds all morning - I saw caR in the title, then read about a dog show, thought I'd misread and it was maybe a caT show, so had to do a double-take to figure it out. Less than a month before Barktoberfest so, dog-owners, start getting those pups spruced up and ready to shine for a good cause!

Again. Write for your audience. A press release is not news and should be identified as such but seldom is in the USVI.

I wouldn't consider this car show as news, but since Lucky Paws is non profit and doing what some consider a needed service, the post is on the "advertising" fringe since the post wasn't in response to a question.

Great event for raising awareness and money for our shelter and rescue organization, the animals in need, their "pets with wings", spay and neuter
programs.

I just listed what was on the poster and Dellia's email.
If interested call HSSTT, Lucky Paws Foundation or Iggies Beach Bar as it didn't breakdown start or end time of event.

So please, what time is the 1st, Inaugural, premier Edition, unveiling and hopefully annually Car show itself starting ?? or even ending?? That way we can have some time frame to go there. Thanks.
