If I want to build a dock...

Recently we've been looking at a couple of waterfront properties on STJ and STT online and I noticed that no one has their own dock.  I looked around the coast of both islands and there's really nothing at all.

Automatically I start assuming that it must be a zoning question, but before I go diving into the code books, does anyone know why this is the case?  Are we just not permitted to build one?

Thanks!

⛵?

DPNR --CZM  -- Corps of Engineers - USVI Legislature - Submerged Land permit

Hoops - not quick but in some instances possible.

There was a dock on St Thomas that was destroyed in a storm. When the owners tried to get a permit to replace it, they discovered that it had been built without a permit many years before. It took the a ton of money and time to redo it.

You might consider a ramp launch instead of a dock - depending on the vessel involved, you might not even need a permit for that.
