Tomorrow is the 21st anniversary of Fran blowing through North Carolina. Only Cat 1 but still a direct hit and big mess. Mowed down 100yr Oak trees all over like match sticks.

And Irma could follow the same path as Fran.

Stay safe everyone! I have been frequenting this site for some time now and I appreciate all of the info. I know it will go quiet once the storm hits, but just know that we will be thinking of you all.

Keep us informed as much as you can and I know there's not much we can do if we are not in island.... I'm here in Orlando FL and we are also preparing for Irma. It's crazy here. Out of gas and water at most places already so I can't even imagine what it's like in the VI right now.

Is ATT service down all over STX? My husband is off island and doesn't do Internet. I'm sure he's upset my phone goes directly to VM.

text works well, internet is the absolute best right now (whats app or what ever your prefered app is) and I expect this to continue as the cell towers are completely overwhelmed right now with voice calls.

From everything I'm seeing St Croix will have a "rough time" and STT will get the worst of it, I don't expect sustained winds over 70mph tomorrow, maybe a few gusts that hit 120 or so but nothing super devastating..

Water is very calm in C'sted harbor right now, only light wind- must be eye moving by to the North. How is it on STT?

3:15 pm hang on STT! it's almost over. (Big issues to deal with ahead, I know, but the wind should start abating very soon.)

Looks like the 5PM update shows the center not far north west of STT on it's way to just north of San Juan.

Yeah the web cam at White Bay stopped just before 9AM. No more soggy dollar?
