Curfew lifted on STX from 8am to 6pm thursday. As per the Governor.

To be re-assesed this afternoon, if WAPA can energize enough neighborhoods then curfew may be lifted entirely. Decision on that later today.

Entirely? Curfew was originally only in effect until 6PM today? Unless he decides to extend it past 6PM.

Sorry, for the confusion. Yes curfew was scheduled to end at 6pm. From what i see and hear Its hard to say if he (governor) will extend it on STX, he said depends on WAPA. So who knows.

STT and STJ most certainly I imagine will remain under an extended curfew.

so... Homedepot run today might be possible on STX?

I could use some more propane, I found out that 20lb lasts a good 8 hours (on my 6k generator), not 4 like I previously thought....

Such devastation to all our sister islands and all the British islands east and NE of us.

Truly horrible to have so many direct hits, and deaths already.

STX was spared; it blows my mind that a mere 40 mile distance makes all the difference in the world.

For anyone who wants to know what happened on other islands, my favorite weather site stormcarib.com has accounts posted from correspondents on other islands.

Read STT accounts by Jane Higgins, scary!

Has anyone heard from STJ yet? I hope they are ok.

There by the grace of God.....

Please let Jose go out to sea and miss all the islands that Irma visited!

Drove from Cotton Valley to Seaside today. Road is clear and open. Saw a WAPA line crew just west of Cheeseburgers going West and about a half hour later they were just east of Ziggys. I can see them working on a pole near the Cotton Valley firehouse now.
Encouraging.
Ziggy's is still on generator, same as Seaside, but pumping gas and serving food/drinks.

Stacey Plaskett (the representative of the U.S. House from USVI) spoke on MSNBC 15 minutes ago or so. She said that the recently passed "Harvey Relief Aid" was actually allocated to FEMA, and some of these funds can apparently be used to aid USVI with the aftermath of Irma. She said that she spoke with speaker Ryan, and he apparently confirmed it.

LF is using military communication equipment. I can visualize him on a horse, the M-16 in one hand, and a bulky military-grade cell phone in the other hand, which he is using to command the troops to expedite the re-opening of the Lost Dog.

Everything east of Donkey Hill seems to be incommunicado. Nothing from Red Hook, the Lagoon or St. John. I have been communicating with people on both Sprint and AT&T elsewhere on Island, and received texts and calls all day yesterday except for about 3 hours. Downtown is trashed, the Northside seems to have not suffered the brunt. West side of Peterborg has a lot of roofs missing. Most power poles look to be up and lines in place above and around Magens.
USCG helo cruising around Magens right now. And I'm in Maine. So there are coms on island.

There's a rumor - I say that because I haven't confirmed it with anyone - that Cost U Less got hit hard. Flooding in Tutu. It looks like the South and East of STT took the worst of it.

I get nothing out west on STX, I'm at work, I work for the national guard, we have FEMA here and more little satellite dishes than I've seen since my last deployment.. definitely not short on communications.

There was a video we saw of Cowpet East. Some roof sections off, wooden stuff thrown around, but it really didn't look too bad.

Jost is shot, one end to the other. The picture of Ivan's that's been circulating is one thing. Where the Soggy Dollar used to be looks like a swamp with a number of semi submerged vehicles. But still, nothing from Red Hook or the Lagoon area or St. John.

"What's Going On St. Thomas" on FB, I'm told, is starting to get a lot of pictures. I'm getting stuff every couple of minutes on the phone. Boatyard boats over (on the hard), but the docks look pretty good.

still in the wait and see stage here in charleston.

There is a city named Charleston in 21 states, and 7 of those states may be affected by hurricane Irma. This is like saying, "still in the wait and see stage here in Springfield".
