Bombi,

How much rain did you get last night? We finally got enough that it isn''t like a dessert in the yard. I was tired of the sand blowing all over. Maybe our vegetation will grow back and the sand/dirt spots will disappear.

My crude measuring system showed about a half inch, but as soon as I left for work at 7 it began pouring. A nice steady rain would be good so I won't have to go looking for my driveway. My son came over at 7 with his surfboard to eat all my food before he goes wave riding.

I am moving to st john in 8 days, will the hurricane be past the usvi's by then? If not how should i prepare myself for the immediate settling in? I am moving from Vt and have never been through a hurricane before (plenty of blizzards though haha). Should i be worried about arriving right before this hits or will it already be gone by the middle of next week?

Thanks!

it should (emphasize should!) be gone by then. it looks like it's heading north. the thing with hurricanes is you just never know. You're moving here in the heart of hurricane season so when you get here, make sure to stock up on water and canned items. buy everything you can in the states and ship it down - flashlights, batteries, generator, battery powered fans, first aid kits, etc...it's ALL cheaper than buying it in St. John or St. Thomas.
