How's the single life on the islands?
What's the single life on the islands like??? I currently live in Vegas and am in the process of getting a divorce. The single scene is a rat race here...is it different on the islands?
I have been looking for either a roomate or a place to rent by myself on STJ...I will be moving in a few months. If anyone has a place on STJ for rent please advise.
Anna,
Allow me to be the first to work my island mojo on you.
Though I actually haven't moved there yet. I found a post on this forum that stated eight to one guys over gals and figured I better get a jump start finding a gal.
I hope to move before the end of summer 06. I too am looking for a roomate or place to rent and currently live in Vegas. I plan on budgeting $1500.00 a month for rent and figured one or two other people that could swing about that much and we could have a killer waterfront place.
My official advise to you is lets meet for lunch.
I'll report back after my PMV next month...
My impression is, on STT at least, lots of places to hang out and meet tourists, get hammered, etc. Perhaps that's exactly the thing you're trying to leave in Vegas? A quick scan of Match.com searching on zip code 00802 reveals 15 pages of single guys aged 25-45. (There are about half as many women). Not that Match.com is the end-all be-all of the singles scene but it's just another outlet.
My impression of singles in resorty, vacation destinations in general (based wholly on Roatan, Hawai'i, and places to the north like Plum Island, MA, Bar Harbor, ME, etc) is that there are a lot of people who are there to "find themselves" for a bit after going through a rough patch. The turnover is high and they aren't always the most emotionally healthy people to go out with. Whenever I lived in these places I always wound up dating someone who's problems killed the relationship
I'm hoping STT will be a little different but I'm guessing it won't be. Good thing I'm going for the weather and the lifestyle and not the women!
Girls,
It's been said before; "The odds are good - but the goods are odd". No judgement, just a saying.
So I guess it's a good thing that rum's so cheap. Rum goggles probably disguise more than beer goggles 😉
I am also about to move (in June/July). Do people really use online services like match.com or eharmony on St. Thomas?
Islandbound send me a PM...you live in Vegas now??? Kinda weird we are both fleeing the damn, dry desert.
twindomes,
That is so funny! I'm going to use that one...I bet it's more true for Vegas than anywhere.
Don't get me wrong, Vegas is a really cool place to live...so fun!
But, alas I am a beach girl from Florida, and can't take one more 110 degree summer!
I tried to PM you first, but I don't think your registered, so it's up to you to send me one or get yourself registered.
Well what I'd like to know is how is the single life for us mature folks? I'm a 53 yr old guy thinking about moving down in a few months. How are the odds for a man my age?
Check out my post under "guys and girls" before you all get too giddy!
Hey Anna,
go ahead and make that leap. the worst thing you can do is see its not for you and leave. i lived there in my early 20's and had a ball. but eventually i left, cut my hair, got rid of my toe ring, got a job,got a wife, had some kids, bought a house i cant afford... but on a high note i was able to return periodically and actually bought a house on stt last may. you wont be sorry for your time spent there.
Lip
ps;i live in atlantic city (vegas's ugly sister)
I am a 50 year old SWF moving to STT to take on a new job. I will probably be moving there by the first of May, 2006. I will be interested in dating mature men while I'm living there... hopefully for a long time. I'm not looking for a husband, but I would love companionship for dinner, movie, sailing, etc.
