How long does it take to get from the Northside of STT to say Montessori school in Red Hook area? to Charlotte Amalie?
How long does it take to get from the Red Hook area to Charlotte Amalie (8am and 5 pm)?

Benefits of living on Northside are: .......
Benefitsof living on the East side are:........
Drawbacks are:.......
Somethings I've heard are Northside is cooler (how much?) and has more rain to fill the cisterns but has more bugs and mold issues.
Somethings I've heard of East Side are it gets less rain for the cistern and is hotter, but is closer to shopping and gets good tradewinds.
Thank you for your input!

We live on the east end and love it.
Cons:You do have to deal with the fact that you don't get as much rain so you probably will watch your cistern a little closer. We have only had to get water once in a couple years and that was because we had used excessive water remodeling our house, filling our pool, etc. The commute can take 30-45 minutes to/from work in Charlotte Amalie area.
Pros: We have fantastic views, close to Red Hook, close to two great grocery stores (Marina Market and Food Center), close to ferry (this was more important when we didn't have a boat) and where we live it's quiet and out of the hustle and bustle of Charlotte Amalie. We breathe a sigh of relief when we reach the east end. If you are a boater the east end is great because you have good areas to keep the boat (marina's, mooring fields, etc) and you are so close to the other islands.
All that being said the north side is great also. There are pros and cons to both and you really just have to decide which you like better. You will find that there is always going to be a little give and take regardless of where you are or what you are doing.
Just my take on things. Good Luck
thank you tyson.
You could split the difference & live on the south side. 🙂

Depends on whether you take the scenic route or go through the tunnel. If the traffic is bad, I just take the tunnel from Hull Bay - comes out near the courthouse. Less than 10 minutes. Not much of a view and not too well lit, but traffic is light!.
I think they should take some of the entry fee money from the 8Tuff Miles run and build one from Cruz Bay to Coral Bay one of these years - maybe just a pedestrian (and runners) tunnel at first...
tunnel.....LOL!
I live in the NW and one of the main reasons why my toddler is not attending Montessori is because I simply couldn't stomach the anticipated 45 mins just to get there. To get back to my job would have been another 45!
Thanks Onica, I was wondering about that.
Take the subway! 😉
